Though I am not a Chrysler fan I would hate to see any American company fail. That would leave us with only 2 American car companies vs. 6 Japanese on our own soil. It was sad to see Buell go down, Chrysler would be devastating. During the 50's there were at least 6 American auto manufactures. We need industry and export to survive.

I have no idea where any of you are getting the idea that this is the death of Chrysler, or the Challenger. Fiat and Chrysler will share engines and platforms, like any successful automotive partnership. A small Chrysler 500 could sell well, look at how many Neons and PT Cruisers they have sold. The 300 and Charger (presumably Challenger as well) are set to get a significant revamp in the near future, and Autoblog just reported that there is a chance it will be used for a Maseratti.

Lastly, muscle cars seem to be about the only type of car Chrysler Corp can do well lately, why would they abandon that?

OK, I'm with you in spirit and I hope for the best. But I can't believe I'm the only person who remembers the last Chryslerati and I pray that pairing never occurs again in my lifetime.

Oh they mentioned that. Here's the article if you're curious. Fiat-may-use-next-chrysler-300-platform-for-lancia-mase

Keep in mind, the current platform is borrowed from Mercedes.

Why do folks keep saying sales for the Challenger are horrendous? They've sold nearly every one they've built and they STILL are being marked up 5K - $10K in some markets. Even the 2010s are being marked up from what folks are telling me.

Of the dealers around me, I've only found one dealer with Challengers on the lot.

The sales NUMBERS may not be there, but that's not for lack of consumer interest, but more from lack of product availability. I'm curious to see what happens with 2010 models now that they're producing them in decent numbers.

You can't sell a lot of cars when you only make 39,000 units total for a production year.

I chuckle when I hear folks at car shows saying they bought their 2010 Camaro as an investment collector car. They definitely picked the wrong car for that.

Look at GM and Ford. GM has the Camaro, Equinox, SRX, LaCrosse, Terrain, Malibu, CTS, GMT-900s, Lambdas...plus the CTS Coupe, Regal, Cruze, Volt, etc on the way.

Ford has the Taurus, Fusion, Mustang, F-series, MKS, Focus...

What does Chrysler have? A freshly redesigned Dodge Ram...Challenger's a sales flop, Avenger/Sebring are embarrassments...and there is barely anything to look forward to in the upcoming lineup.

Chrysler is done. I would expect them to be gone by 2012.

Pretty soon, they are going to become like mustangs. All the teenage girls are going to have the V6 convertibles and we will all want to kill ourselves.
