cd player

I know, I know, I'm old school. I have a 14 with my link, back up camera, and NO CD PLAYER!!!!!!!!!. I miss my cd's is there a company that makes a cd player that plugs into the usb port in the glove box? I don't have the 4 gauges and think this would be the perfect mounting point. I want something simple because im not tech savvy and don't want to be. any guildance would be helpful to this oldman thanks in advance...

The problem is that most audio cd players that have USB are using them for charging only. The computer versions have USB for signal, but I doubt the car would be able to control them. If you go with the first option, you are either looking at a 1/8" plug or bluetooth to get the music into your stereo.

Back in the day I used to use a Walkman style portable CD player with an AUX cable. Assuming you could even find something like an old Walkman or portable CD player, this would be the cheapest route. You car has the AUX port right? I ask because I don't know which models it came with or if it was standard.

Just checked Amazon and they have tons of them, some even have Bluetooth and are really cheap, although I would use the headphone jack/AUX port if I was doing this just for sound quality alone. But if you want to go wireless at least there is an option.

Dang, looks like none of the big companies make them anymore lol, ie. Sony, Panasonic, etc...But they do have Jensen and Sylvania. There are a few more expensive ones that have built in Lithium rechargeable batteries, but you could always hardwire it for power instead, assuming it has a port.

You could probably buy the 6 disc changer they used to install in the trunk of cars. Not positive will work with newer cars. I on the other hand download all my music from a certain website and can listen to whatever I want instead of searching for cds.

Wow! The 6 disc CD changer in the trunk. Now that brings me back to younger days.

I have a Discman somewhere still with 45 seconds worth of buffering/anti-skip that you could plug an aux cable into and then plug that into the aux port.

I too still use CD's, but I have an old enough car that I still have a CD player.

They should bring back the turntable in cars. Those were cool and sound much better than CD’s. Maybe have a factory option for turntable, 8 track, cassette. CD or none or all.

A pencil worked as well. When the deck tried to eat the cassette, then you’d need to wind it. I got pretty good at it but it might cause carpel tunnel nowadays.

Trunk mounted player will definitely work. A remote control can be wired to your console. (Have this in my 75 Cutlass). I'm guessing there may be one w/a wireless remote. I actually have the 5 disc player under the passenger seat facing rear and can easily reach it from the drivers seat. I'm guessing no way this would work in our cars (clearance from floorboard to bottom of seat). Had the same unit in my wife's 79 Z-28 in the trunk.

I'm looking forward to someone mounting an Edison Wax Cylinder Phonograph in their car. Can only be used in the winter though.
