Secondary Cat Delete Picture Book

Had the secondary cats deleted this morning and it's quiet louder...see what I did there?

Sorry for the cheesy joke, but it really is the best of both worlds - it's louder where you want it (start-up, decel pops, accelerating, revving) and quiet when you need it (highway cruising, no drone, talking on phone or to passenger, listening to news, etc.). Definitely worth the $125.

Great pics and thanks for sharing. You took it to your local muffler shop and it was $125? Seems like a nice cheap mod for more sound. You have no other mods done to the exhaust/air? Did the tone change or is just a bit louder?

Yes, Gentry Muffler in Denton, TX. Chris is the Charlie Daniels of the MIG welder; I've been using him for probably 20+ years. Seems like they always have something going on a performance oriented vehicle from one of the area performance shops.

No other mods, and can't tell tone changed, just turned the volume dial up a few numbers from the factory exhaust.

Can you pass inspection with these deleted? What about deleting resonators?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks to threads like these, I have been looking for methods to gut mine with minimal cutting of the OEM pipes and no welding. I live in CA (regrettably) so I want to keep OEM-appearance.

I used to live in PA. I would say it depends on the inspector, but the details in this document sound like a "no go" to me:
http://www.drivecleanpa.state.pa.us/...iladelphia.pdf

NJ stopped doing this type of visual inspection years ago. Now it's just OBD hookup and if there are no codes you pass emissions. But they used to do a pretty thorough under-car check with mirrors, and they are mostly car guys so they knew what to look for.

Just turned 11,000 miles, and just finished putting a plug in the right rear. New set of tires sitting in garage, but I'd like to get one good donut video before putting them on. LOL

I have not seen a pic of the inside of our cats, seems very restrictive, a lot more restrictive than my previous cars. No wonder it gets a lot louder.

State by state, county by county.

For my county in TX it's just a OBD plug-in; I've never seen them look under a car. Since the secondary cats are not monitored, and as long as you don't have a leak on the welds sucking in cold air on the decel that would trigger the nearby O2 sensors, then you should be good.

Mufflers reduce volume; resonators tune sound. No reason a deleted resonator would cause you to fail inspection.

ReallY? His tires look pretty good IMO. I never would of classified those as approaching slick. 11k is dam good for those tires also.

Front tires aren't too bad, but the backs are well into the red on the tire tread gauge. I drove it for the first time in the rain last week in NW Arkansas and if there was the slightest amount of standing water it was a major pucker-factor!
