Well I had looked up the frequencies on the net and just plugged them into my race scanner I take to races. However they went digital here not to long ago so can't get anything now.

Laws very state to state. In Indiana they are legal for home, but you must have a HAM radio operators license to legally carry it in your vehicle.

My wife was just at RS at the mall to get one of those blueberries or blackberries or raisins or whatever... and I went over to play around with the scanners. I think the hand held one I was looking at cost about $249.

@ Captain Awesome, you can still buy resistors, capacitors, dc motors and all that at RS. They're just not sprolled out all over the wall as they once were. They shoved them all inside of a large "tool cabinet like" display, but they are still available there.

You should check out Allied Electronics for resistors and capacitors and the like... they have great service too... unlike Radio Shack... however they don't have scanners tho...

Haha; what's even the point then? What do they sell instead? Those mini RC cars?

That's just strange... a store called radio shack, but you can't buy any electronics parts there...

you can by ipods, small selection of computer parts, phones, ummmm random stereo stuff. but very small radio (CB, base stations) section there. . .I went in there looking for an antenna for a CB and could only find the magnetic ones. . .what a rip. they don't seem to have much of anything like they use to.

where am I to go to get capacitors, resistors, splices, fuses, pcb boards, wire, and such?

I have no idea where you'd get one. I don't even know if it'd work w/ the new digital tech that everyone is going (or has gone) to.

Better questions....why? Why do you want one??
