I will agree that it's the basis from which that statement comes from I'm sure.

well in that case...

camaro + camaro = camarocamaro = camaro^2...

still not following, how can perfection be improved?

because your teacher said to....
In School when we are taught to add this statement is taught to us. To get a visual of what this means our teachers used illustrations, like 2 apples plus 2 apples = 4 apples. There has never in all my learnings ever the word (units) been included after a number in a math problem, because it is understood and unnecessary. So in a practical world yes the numbers designate units of a real object, but in math you just use the numbers because they do not need to reperesent anything to illustrate the equation.

No. If u fire the 9mm while going 55 it will not travel the same speed as it being shot standing still. Im pretty such if u sent up an experiment like this. some one is standing still about 500 feet infront of you by the side and u are in a car and u both have a pistol and u drive the car towards him at 55mph and once u reach him at an exact point u both fire the pistol and im 95% positive bullets will travel at the same speed becuase the wind would be interfering with the bullets velocity and the other bullet wich was fired standing still wil not have as much wind interferring. I don't know how but if there was some formula to prove it... some how the wind interferring with both bullets are the most important part. but if some how if there was no air at all in the area its being tested yes the bullet fired from the car will go faster becuase it will have an extra 55mph with out any interferance of wind.

Almost but not quite, in real life physics this is untrue. YES the bullet fired at 55 MPH will have more wind resistance, but it will still initially be traveling faster (55MPH faster)than the bullet fired at 0 MPH. The 55MPH bullet will slow faster than the 0MPH bullet untill it reaches the same initial velocity of the 0MPH bullet. Then the 55MPH bullet will slow at the same rate as the 0MPH bullet.

Then it will surpass the velocity of the 55pmh bullet at some point.

nothing. your headlights couldnt withstand the speed...lol

seriously tho, the speed of light is constant in a vacuum, it does not follow the same rules as a projectile fired from a moving point. see the velocity-addition formula

tho it has been refined numerous times. the funny thing is, by calculating the speed of light to a more precise decimal point, you are actually recalculating the length of the meter unit. where the meter was originally calculated as 1/10,000,000 of the distance from the north pole to the equator, it was changed to the length of the path traveled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1⁄299,792,458 of a second. It follows that the speed of light in vacuum is exactly 299,792,458 metres per second

If the numbers are just measures of units and have no properties, then they must have an associated unit. If they don't, then they cannot be a measure of anything; which means the definition of the numbers is false; which means that which you wrote does not exist. So those numbers must have a a 'default', universal unit that allows them to exist or else your proof that 2+2<>4is invalid because it is grounded in a false truth that the numbers are indeed a measure of something.

The only constant unit(by your definition) is distance. Inches, feet, yards, milimeters, or nanometers; the numbers are implied to be a measure of distance unless another unit is otherwise specified.

Therefore 2 + 2 = 4.

Wow...I needed this. Talk about a brain excercise...

now think about this.... if i have 2 pencils fresh out of the box (not mechanical ones, old school wooden ones) and i sharpen one all the way down to the eraser, do i still have 2 pencils?

this is why we need a 100 mile vacuum and a track that we can move a gun at speed and fire it inside the vacuum. lol

Yes, but what if you then take the longer pencil and break it in half and sharpen both halves. Would you then have 3 pencils?

are you sure id have 2? cus they are only a percentage of what they once were. and if you broke it in half and sharpened it, then you would be removing from it, so you'd have to take the percentage that you sharpened off of it, add the remaining total up and divide by the number you started with.

A pencil is not like a gallon of milk where when you pour half out you only have a half gallon. It's an object. It doesn't matter what size it is, it is still a pencil. It could be a half used pencil, but it is still a pencil.
