After that my cousin leaned over to me (after we'd laughed our asses off) and said "This Joker is THE best Joke ever!". And he really is.

It was deemed an accidental death and the more I hear about it from people of the set the more I believe that to be true. Besides let me put it this way: do you have acting experience? I do and as an actor you sometimes have to go places that are dark, and say and do things that you yourself would never say or do, but you do them anyway as the character to make the film/the play/the show work. You wear it like a suit. And then you take that suit off after you're done with it. And you go home and be yourself.

I think even Christian Bale said the the mere thought of Heath Ledger having killed himself because of the role was offensive to actors. And I gotta agree there.

but more I've heard is that he couldn't get out of the roll he completely and he OD'ed on sleeping pills. if the character he was playing was messing with his head that much that he had to keep taking pills to sleep then I'd say it makes sense why he did die. killed himself or not. . .

From what I hear, he was on anti-depressants for familiy problems and then sleeping pills for the dark place his mind went while getting into character and they didn't mix well.

According to several actors actually working on the film, when the cameras where off he was back to being himself, hanging out with the rest of the people on set, talking about his kids and such.

I'm just saying that I don't believe that the role is what killed him. But this will probably be discussed to the end of time.
