My effin dog does the same thing. I've read all the tricks, like what to douse his crap with so it's not appealing...

Think about that for a second, what the hell else do you need to do to turds to make them taste bad?!

11. If your dog watches you pick up poop, he might learn to do the same. This is called allelomimetic behavior. Your dog observes you and learns from you, by putting the poop in his mouth you put poop in a bag.

13. Many dogs simply like the taste of poop. This obviously doesn't make sense to dog owners but that's irrelevant. Some dog like to eat it and that's that. It's warm, moist, and very much like what your dog was given as a very young puppy.
Those are the only two I see possible with my parents' dog. Although he doesn't eat it often. He usually sticks to just drinking his pee. The vet said he likely does it because he just likes to. Not really much of an explanation heh.

As I told my parents... "Why does he drink his pee? To wash down the poop he just ate".

It is a pretty funny sight to watch him do it though. Although I haven't seen him do it, apparently he finally started hiking his leg when he pees (I think he's almost 2yrs old), but only occasionaly. But I've been told that even that is hilarious as he doesn't just lift it a little, he hikes it like straight up in the air, as high as possible. My conclusion from all this (which is evident for other reasons) is that the dog is just retarded.

I was wondering how you found it. Its not something that would come up in a generic search.
