Maximum Boost on factory piston/ring package.
I’m looking to buy a 14-15 ZL1 and will replace the factory blower with procharger F1A-94.
With a good tune what is the maximum boost ? 12-14? Just trying to get an idea with a number before the rings butt together. I have a SS vert but looking to move up . No I do not want to mod the convertible. |

It’ll hold more than 15, but at that point your in to other stuff that can pop up. It all depends on what you’re doing with the car and a really good tune. To many failures popping up as far as rod bearings and oil pumps, if you do some research you’ll see for yourself. I’m about as far as I’m going to go, unless I get the flex fuel sensor that’s installed tuned. I’m at 629/623 and it’s never had a gasket cracked, although I may look into to getting the insulator replaced soon. Good luck with whatever you choose. ZL1 exclusive is a FB page that has tons of info and lots of folks with vast knowledge too.

Boost level with a Pro Charger is going to be a whole different ball game compared to boost level with a factory supercharger due to volume displacement. I have a ported stock supercharger that has the 2.45 upper and 9.55 lower. I am running about 18-19 psi. Compared to a Pro Charger making the same power, you may only be at 12-13 PSI to make the same power. I have seen stock ZL1 bottom ends make upwards of 1000 with turbo kits.
