Well, it sure sounds like you had fun which is great! Unfortuantely, as bad as you drive on track its not a matter of if...but a matter of when you crash that beauty of a car! Passing 3 wide at an HPDE? LMFAO...my ass slammed shut so fast and tight i think i created turbulence in my underwear!
Although im really serious that you would be better served learning how to drive at speed with an instructor...its nice to see you had fun and got to drive the car home, this time.

Just bustin’ your chops!

Cheers!

UPDATE: The more i think about it...im going to “guess” you might be just sharing this video? Looks like your are from the east coast and the video is from the west coast! Either way...DOH! lol

wow...I'm speechless. Is this a sticky for what not to do at an HPDE?

Most definitely, I don't have much experience with track driving, but damn even I know that was kind of dumb.

Pretty sure you're right on that one. The one featured from his channel is blue, not red like the one in the vid.

Laguna Seca is one of my home tracks and have raced it many times, Sonoma being the other. I'm not a pro driver but.......Not to put down the driver in the video but I would suggest maybe taking an instructor along to help out with the lines, entry points and exit points. Smooth is fast. Sometimes it feels like you are slow but you are actually fast by being smooth. That three wide pass is not a good idea. Especially at the crest where there is a bit of a pinch point. Just my 2 cents

Howdy Boys - I am the owner of that car and the driver is one of the few people I trust to drive it. OP did not break any rules of the run group, he was running in Speed Ventures Advanced run group, which allows/encourages open passing. Much like driving too slowly isn’t defensive driving, if we would’ve waited for a point by (that was never going to come bc the other drivers know the rules for this group, too), he could’ve created a more dangerous situation for the next car coming up on us.

No one in that run group (during the mandatory download meeting after the session) or Speed Ventures took any issue with his passes.

OP was also driving with the highest possible degree of difficulty - driving someone else’s car right after I had nearly melted the tires from my session in the Intermediate run group.

Besides the screaming hot tires with limited seat time in that car, he had to deal with:
- Driving an M6 vs. the A10 he is used to
- My traction control settings (everything off)
- A convertible vs. the coupe he is used to
- Different, harder (340 tread ware) tires than the factory goodyears he is used to
- Having me riding shotgun... gotta be a little unnerving to be driving someone else’s car that hard with them sitting next to you
- Did I mention he drove immediately after I nearly melted the tires?

He wasn’t doing anything the car couldn’t do with ease under different conditions
