Fully built ZL1 about to add some sauce to the recipe (N2O)
Alright, so my plans are to use some older existing nitrous stuff and put a system together for the ZL1. I have some solenoids, lines and a bottle from an old kit, and now I am going to get the 102mm dual stage plate. I am planning on a 100 shot, and a 250 progressive second stage shot. I am currently looking at the Nitrous Outlet Promax 2 stage progressive controller, and I was considering using M1 methanol as the fuel side of the wet kit. I already have a meth kit in the car, and I run E85 all the time. I was thinking about adding a pump to the current meth tank and run that for my fuel needs on the nitrous kit. It saves me from using another fuel like C16, and since I already have a meth kit, I always keep a few gallons around. I plan on using the controller to take care of my timing retard, and I think with the M1, I can stay a little more advanced than using the E85 which I am already getting close to my pump's limit.
Anyone have any opinions on the set up? I am running a fully built motor with forged rods and pistons, and just a mild 9.5:1 compression ratio, but nearly 18 psi of boost with a fully ported blower, aftermarket heads, stage 4 BTR cam, and headers, intake, etc. |

Interesting never see a meth kit used as fueling for a wet shot. It's gonna need a lot of meth on top of a 350 shot but interested in results

Interesting setup, I too havent heard of running meth as fuel for a wet shot.
I look forward to seeing your ZL1 around town.

My initial thoughts are to do a Walbro255 pump from the meth tank to feed the nitrous fuel solenoids. Just initial planning.

Don't believe that pump is compatible with methanol might want to check and see

This sounds like it will either make insane power or an insane explosion. Here's hoping it's the former and not the latter.

The reason people dont use methanol for a nitrous kit is because the methnol or water meth can freeze and pool up and cause a big boom.

I never bother mixing water, always straight M1. Never heard of any fuel pooling when being sprayed through the intake of a forced induction system. I can’t imagine any fuel pooling at 15-18 psi. Also, through the plate systems, I thought they atomize the fuel spray. As FAS as a Walbro 255 goes, just something comparable for fuel flow and pressure.
