Poor GT 350 and his blown engine...:(

Yes...a new GT 350 had 2 amazing laps on track and *BOOM*. I hate it but I had to post it. It is either a '17 or '18.

Bummer. Sucks to see a nice car go down.

Odds on whether fomoco will honor the warranty?

OUCH!

On a positive note, it looks like the weather is holding up for you at VIR. Looks overcast but dry. Enjoy.

Sorry...I have no details about the scenario which caused the catastrophic failure.

The 5.2 voodoo is an amazing engine, but it has proven to be unreliable. Damn shame so may have had engine failures.

All the Coyote based motors need billet Oil Pump Gears for longevity.
Once that is done, they are damn near bulletproof.
Until that is done, it is a ticking time bomb....

Is it really a blown engine? Doesn't look like it dumped any oil.

Sucks to see nice cars disabled on track, but it happens. Sometimes it is driver error (missed shift). Sometimes it is poor workmanship. Sometimes it is a design flaw/weak link. Sometimes it is just shit happens.

I hope it does not deter the owner from tracking again in the future.

As to the Voodoo engine and the GT350 in general, I never considered it as a track car. The engine is too rare. There is little familiarity with it. Parts are hard to get on short order if you have a problem. Things are just more expensive.

To me, a track car needs to have commonly available major components (engine, transmission, brakes, etc) as the #1 pre-requisite. Tracking rare vehicles is asking for trouble.
