Agreed. I think that unexpected happening was the ZL1 1LE...... I don't think they expected Chevy to drop the LT4 in a Camaro, keep it at full HP TQ like the vette version, wrap it in the most track capable Camaro ever built (suspension/Aero/etc) and get it in customer's garages by July of 2017.

I think that had them back at the drawing board playing catch up.

So.....I think it isn't a big deal if a year and 1/2 later a Mustang that will be unattainable under $100k comes out with 50 or 60 more HP. You will see very few of any of them on the track - and - that gives Chevy 18 months to leapfrog the GT500. Again.

That's why they call it the "Pony car wars".....its good for all of us that like fast muscle cars....enjoy it while it lasts!!

If the ZL1 wasn't made to compete with the GT500 or the hellcat , what was it built for. For sure the GT500 was built to compete against the ZL1 and the hellcat.

Ah yes, I forgot about all those LS9 ZL1's they built in response to the 5.8 GT500

Those renders look pretty good to me, but I think it would look better with out the blacked out section in the grill

Here’s the 2019 GT500’s 5.2L Predator Engine

It all started with the leaked engine cover, then the CAD images we showed you, and now we have a real deal photo of the 2019 GT500 5.2L supercharged “Predator” engine thanks to our friends at Lethal Performance.
Some of the details we’ve known for some time but the Lethal crew has confirmed the Predator engine is a cross-plane 5.2-liter V8 with a Eaton 2.65-liter TVS @ 12psi supercharger and 10:1 compression ratio.
We’re also hearing that Ford may have sourced the Tremec TR-9007 7-speed dual clutch transmission for a huge boost in performance and efficiency.
The debate is on in the forums about whether the next GT500 will make 700-horsepower at the wheels or crank, so let’s hear your thoughts!

It will be 700+ Crank, those boys are dreaming if they think it will be 700 wheel.

Only way I see that happening is if Fords claim of 700+ ends up being on the high side.

I am not a Ford fan, but at 662 hp for the 13 GT500 isn't considered barely making a projection of "upwards of 600 hp" they clobbered it.
