The GT500 is for model year 2019, which means by the fall they can be ordered. Not sure if Camaro can respond that fast, but all they need to do is put the LT5 in there and match it with the fantastic 10 speed and its lights out for the GT500.

The Ford video clearly said coming in 2019! Not that it was a MY 2019. If it was a MY 2019, they would of said, look at the 2019 GT500.

Camaro needs to step up, ist the 2018 redone GT that runs easy 12.0 with the 10 speed auto, than the 475 hp bullitt, and now the GT500 700 plus hp. All of a sudden Camaro is the underdog. |

until they get to the first corner
At 700hp furd will either need to put the 500 on a serious diet or the car will weigh >4500 lbs with all the upgraded driveline and cooling they’ll have to install.

Not sure it will be that heavy, add 500 to a Gt350 3800lbs would be 4300, but add it to a 3600 lb GT350R and its 4100lbs

Watched a ZL1 last week at the track. I talked to the owner who told me it runs 7.20 in the 1/6th. I was interested to see this but he ran wasw running 7.45 at 96mph. More than just once.

This car is a year and a half away at least from hitting dealer lots..So, 3 years after ZL1? The car should be better.. They've known which engine would go into the ZL1 since 2014 when it was announced for Z06.. Lol

For what most will be paying for the 2019 GT500 in it's first and second model year. I honestly believe that (if it were financially feasible for me) I could purchase a new ZR1 and maybe have enough $ left over for a second set of wheels and tires.
Before you L your AO, consider the Ford ADM's on the GT350 and GT350R in their first 2 years of production. $15-35K on the 350 and $40-75K on the R were unfortunately "the norm". Especially in areas where motivated potential buyers commonly had unlimited cash resources. Yes, there were those who paid that ADM without hesitation. A working class dog like me can't compete with that. Background; I actually queried 18 Ford dealerships from Honolulu, HI. to Richmond, VA. and points north and south. Offering "a modest $10-15K" over MSRP for a non R GT350 with track pack. Most were pleasant and professional, but all declined. Maybe it's the production number plate thing... No, that doesn't hold water either, there were 3000 GT350's built and 3048 ZL1's built in 2017. Based on "limited" production numbers, that's a lot of $ for a number plate and a significantly lower level of performance. Not a hater, just saying. I am more than happy to pay MSRP for my new Z at a dealership just a few miles from my island home. No, thank you on the GT500.

Everyone says that when the other guy beats you to the stripe first. These lap times are nice and all but 99.5 percent of these things will be on the street with everyday cars. All the gt500 has to do is perform at least closely to the zl1 at the ring and have a decent ride quality for the street, it doesn't has to surpass it. But if it stomps it at the dragstrip like the last version did to the Camaro at that time then it will be a hit. Bragging about ring times when you live in upstate New York doesn't mean a hill of beans to the guy sitting at the stoplight to you in traffic.

How hard is it to grab another 100HP out of our cars and kick it’s ass??? Lol, when the LT5 hits the Camaro in 2 years it will be unstoppable. 50HP is less then 8% more and that’s not lot if it weighs the same or more as our cars. These cars are all crazy fast now. More power is fun, but not even close to needed and it’s still a drivers race at these differences. Exciting times though

4 pages of the ZL1 in comparison to the gt500, when it wasn't made to compete with the gt500, hellcat, demon, whatever. the Z06 and the ZR1 are our bread winners in that regard. enjoy being the fastest around a track, that's what our cars are made for...
