I've read about this a bit as I have a VERY high performance computer (actually 2 or 3 of them, though one is a little older...still fast though. Because of the graphics cards (dual Titan GTX 6MB cards), sound card, ethernet, 3 SSD's of 1TB each, 1 3TB normal drive and a 15 TB Drobo that I would be losing money trying to bitmine with it.

People that actually do mining tend to run very stripped down computers with low power consumption because the cost paying the electricity makes a fairly large difference in whether you make money or not.

Here is an example of the type of PC people actually use to be any sort of profitable...and they usually run MANY of these. I am pretty sure a single old PC would really not even be profitable at all.
