Gt500

So it’s confirmed... the GT500 will have a 5.2L DOHC (possibly Flat-plane crank) Supercharged V8. However, the same document that confirmed this is a 2020 Model Year Mustang engine oil guide. So we may not see a GT500 until the year 2019. One of the attached images is of the supercharged engine, and the oil document said that it’s an Eaton blower. This has me wondering how Chevy will compete with the GT500. What do you think GM would do in response to this, if anything? Will they add power and lighten the load to win the numbers game, will they target the exotics like the 911 GT3, AMG GTR, and Huracan Perfermante, or will they take a different route?

Another image I included was of the GT500 brakes. They’re slotted two-piece rotors, whereas the GT350R has drilled rotors will less surface area. The GT500 brake calipers also appear to be bigger, a lot bigger. I’m wondering why they aren’t carbon Ceramics and if Ford is copying the Camaro brake strategy of “These cheaper iron rotors work tremendously”.

Now all we need is a spy photo of a Challenger with an ACR wing

The GT350/R doesn’t have CCBs.

Sure, tossing an LT5 into the ZL1( or ZL1 1LE) would be cool, but there’s gotta be something more special and unique than a supercharged V8. And I think the Camaro engineers are eyeing Porsches and McLarens. The ZL1 1LE is a monster, but it’s really heavy compared to most track-focused sports cars. And when you look at a 911 GT3, a Huracan, and an ACR, what do they have in common? No forced induction. Call me crazy, but I believe that the Z/28, based off of the Z 1LE, should have a high displacement N/A engine with wider tires, carbon Ceramics, a whole lotta interior weight reduction, and a 10-Speed option. I’d like to see 3,550lbs. When I say high displacement, I’m talking about crate engine stuff. Not another 427, but an all aluminum 454 big block. 650hp and 600lb-ft of torque is easily possible because an LSX 454 makes 627/586. It only revs to 6300rpm. There’s no N/A car on the market with anything close to 600lb-ft of torque, and there’s definitely nothing outside of a Bugatti that’s close to 7.4L of displacement. There would be 100lbs less over the front axel, improving handing. Carbon Ceramics reduce unsprung mass, as would carbon fiber rims. The 10-Speed would work perfectly with that kind of an engine. Wider tires mean better cornering speed and less braking distance. I think it could work. A 454-powered track monster is the kind of special car it would take to one-up the Demon and GT500. Who wouldn’t be interested in that?

Okay, I’m thinking somewhat unrealistically but it’s one of those dreams that everyone would love to come true.

I never said that it did, but wouldn’t the next step up from GT350R brakes be Carbon Ceramics? Unless they’re following Lamborghini and making 10-piston calipers...

I would be more interested to see if the Voodoo engine gets the twin injection system as the standard GT350 may need a power boost to boost performance and justify its price increase over a Mustang GT with 10 speed and PP. After all someone already ran a 12 second flat 1/4mile with the new Mustang GT and 10 speed auto someone might think it dumb to spend $55,000+ dollars for a standard GT350.

I would hope to see about 435ft-lbs of torque and 570BHP and a duel injected voodoo engine.

If that's a picture of a blower, where's the intake and pulley? I see only one mount at the bottom of the casting. It looks too small to be an intake and if it's a pulley then where is the intake around the back?

I was thinking the same. I dont see an intake side anywhere and if that is the pulley stout in the front, its really small and weak looking. Something not adding up there.

It might be the new inverted Whipple. It looks like the intake is down low.

That's what guys on the mustang forum were saying. Some said it may be an intake manifold, but others claim that their aftermarket superchargers(Whipple Is a name that they mentioned) are similarly designed. It isn't a twin-screw blower like the Chevys and Hellcats have, apparently for cooling reasons. I'd believe it, and the leaked document even says "supercharged 5.2L V8".

I wonder if the intake/throttle body bolts on similar to how the LSA blower throttle body bolts on. Kind of under the blower, pointing to the drivers side headlight.
