Taurus only has a V6, should we add the G Sedan too?

The Charger is very much a muscle car. Have you ever driven one? It feels more like a real muscle car than the new Mustangs.

You're the one who put a 4-door car in the equation, not me. I don't consider ANY 4-door cars muscle cars. Some are fast, yes, but imo they are not muscle cars.

Also, ReefBlue said this :"I can't remember a time when Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge all had a full production, affordable to most, muscle car on the market at the same time."

You laughed at him and said "Charger GTO Mustang". Fyi, Pontiac made the GTO, not Chevrolet.

I've always felt Dodge really messed up with the new Charger. They kinda rushed the Challenger into production to ride the retro wave Ford created with the s197 Mustangs. Why didn't they make the Charger a 2-door retro styled muscle car instead of a 4-door car with a HEMI option? Considering they already had the 300, why the need for two 4-door HEMI available cars at the same time, yet no available 2-door HEMI available cars until a few years later when the Challengers were offered?

A. The Charger and the Taurus was a bad example because you can't get the Taurus with a big hemi V8. How fast the car is, is irrelevant for terms of this comparison.

B. Yes... Pontiac made the GTO, but GM owns Chevy and Pontiac. So I took it a step further and Made it GM vs. Dodge vs. Ford

Ok, so by your standard the Crown Vic and the Caprice are muscle cars, right???

Just out of curiosity, how do you define a "muscle car"?

Well if your going to change what the guy said, it's kind of ridiculous to laugh at the statement he actually made.

i think dodge realized they messed up using the charger name after so many mopar die hards complained about the 4-doors and the fact that the front end looks like it came off one of the trucks (the srt's do look better than the r/t charger though). i think thats why they went as retro as they did with the challenger. who knows if the challenger would even exist if people didnt complain as much as they did.

I don't think the Charger is a muscle car either. It's a family sedan with a big V8.

Not all muscle cars have to be coupe's (I like to pronounce it coopay). However, the Charger a muscle car is not. You might as well call the Chrysler 300 a muscle car too

At the time the retro craze started up with that Mustang...the Charger had probably been in development for quite some time. Ford gambled on a retro design and won big and GM and Dodge were playing catchup.

I'm now hearing rumor that if Chrysler survives they'll be offering a retro coupe' Charger.

"You might as well call the Chrysler 300 a muscle car too" some people do.

What about the Impala SS and 409s?

Good luck defining the term Muscle Car.

American car (not truck), Big V8, RWD.

That would be sweet, but I cant see them justifying competing with themselves unless this charger is going to appeal to a different crowd than the Challenger...

Yeah, who knows. I read three articles Friday saying Chrysler wouldn't last another year.

I'd love for Dodge to offer two coupe' muscle cars. Capitalize while ya can.

True lol

But for them to come out with a car within a year, they would end up using the same platform and it would just be another whale in the water. I'd rather they engineer a new platform and come out with a 3200lb Charger with 450hp

Wow, you and me both.

I'm actually considering a 426 in my Challenger to get the whale moving with a little more giddyup.
