edit: and that's a fact. so it's pretty ridiculous of you to think it's not.
Why don't you just share that site info with anyone here who wants to rant about politics with you?

So if we can get another mod interested then it's a go?

“Politicians are like diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason.”
― Mark Twain

Political discussions(?) are NEVER if ever becomes a discussion, it almost always turns into arguments that often becomes a personal attack and very rarely if ever will you convince the person you`re debating to see and understand your point of view, so why would you bother.

One other thing, those friendships and personal relationships you developed with those on this forum may very well become strained once you have established what your political views and leanings are.

Chances are that after awhile the moderators will be handing out account suspended or bans faster than candy to trick or treaters.

No, I wouldn't. We have 'censored' people who come here to talk soley about Mustangs, or trash GM, or promote their website, or post inappropriate pictures, or 'sell' whatever garbage that spammers come here with. None of that is political in any way. And its all done in order to keep the site clean and the atmosphere as friendly as possible.

Different people are different people. By which I mean that just because things happen one way for one group doesn't mean that another can do the same thing in the same way & have it all work out. Anything else would seem rather ridiculous to me. Just think back to whenever you've changed jobs, or schools, or had to meet the family of a loved one. Old group & new group can, objectively, be quite similar. But the group dynamics & social norms can be very different. Because different people are different.

Because, for whatever reason, it simply does not stay contained to that one little section.
sorry, I wasn't trying to debate on whether it would work on this particular forum. it was brought up that politics couldn't be talked about on a "car" forum. Which I took that as any car forum, not this one.

also, it seems this car forum has other sections, not related to cars. like the sports, games, and the OT section in general. Not trying to start an argument, I know the reason/s why this site doesn't want a political forum. it's just easier to manage. I was just giving my feedback to what I've seen.

This is very true

I bother because occasionally I come across someone with a different point of view than mine who is intelligent and mature enough to have a spirited political debate in a respectful manner and I enjoy it. Granted, I'll admit, coming across someone like that is very rare.

I think you're plain wrong here. In the real world I have plenty of friends who have a different political view from mine and we all know we are different and it does not affect our relationships. If someone is so immature that they won't be friends with me because of a political view then they were never a friend of mine to begin with

I don't know that's the case, but if it were, then those people probably shouldn't be on here anyway.

To all of this! I think this would be a good way to get rid of all the bad eggs on C5. If you can't act like an adult then yo' ass should get banned! I say give it a go again... If it doesn't work out then it can go away just as quickly as it came. At least then you can't say we didn't have the ingenuity to try to see how something may or may not have changed with time. You simply can't tell me it will be a disaster again unless you try.

Well in all fairness, that's not the definition of insanity anyway.

I don't think a section where politics are main focus would work cause not everyone is gonna have a civil discussion about it. There are too many people not well informed and only get their information from the news or only watch particular new stations without even researching it and they are going to wanna come to that section and rant about it and then will either get flamed or be proven wrong that they get mad and offended. I just see it as a big mess but will be a entertaining section for people just to watch. Arent there actual Politic forums?
