yeah, i read those. I've also noticed how some of them said that Anonymous actually came out and said what they were going to do, or what they did do. In these cases, there had to be an investigation. So while they may have been part of Anonymous, how hard would it be for some whackjob hacker(s) to do something like this and just say they are a part of Anonymous?

I guess i just don't care about facebook as much as a lot of other people. Some people are just way to obsessed over it.

This isn't about facebook to me. This is about a bunch of wannabes using their "talent" for crap that infriges on other people's rights. Grow up and use those skills for something good not for this.

well if you check the site, anybody can be part of anonymous

According to self-ascribed members of Anonymous, membership is conditional but easily achieved, being as simple as concealing oneself while performing online activities. Conversely, the simple act of having one's identity revealed automatically removes oneself from the group.[9] Several members or former members have been interviewed or become noted for their own participation in certain Anonymous activities. Asked about the demographics of Anonymous, Commander X indicated that the common conception of Anonymous as a youth group is a misconception. "The popular impression is....skewed. There are older people, from the direction of the Chaos Computer Club – that can if needed rein in the "kids" who appear to dominate Anon Ops."

did you read my link? here's a little piece from their "warning"

Quote:
Attention citizens of the world,
We wish to get your attention, hoping you heed the warnings as follows:
Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed. If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill facebook for the sake of your own privacy.
Facebook has been selling information to government agencies and giving clandestine access to information security firms so that they can spy on people from all around the world. Some of these so-called whitehat infosec firms are working for authoritarian governments, such as those of Egypt and Syria.
Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your "privacy" settings, and deleting your account is impossible, even if you "delete" your account, all your personal info stays on Facebook and can be recovered at any time. Changing the privacy settings to make your Facebook account more "private" is also a delusion. Facebook knows more about you than your family. http://www.physorg.com/news170614271...from-your-iph….

I did read it. But just saying stuff doesn't mean anything. They have no proof. I understand that facebook sells our information to advertisment companies to help with their demographics.

agreed, but its not just Facebook. It's EVERY major corporation, they all do the same thing. Onstar attempted to do this a few weeks ago.

so glad I bailed on Facebook months ago. They should shut that crap down. There is nothing good about facebook.

A way to "connect"... pick up the damn phone. And I really couldn't care less (note the proper usage of the phrase... COULDN'T) about what people are doing every 10 freakin seconds

what's interesting is thinking about the evolution of facebook & its decreasing appeal to me. back when i joined (before 90% of y'all even knew thefacebook.com even existed), it was a nifty thing i actually used to talk to old school friends i hadn't seen in years. it was much better than myspace because it wasn't trashed up with all the crap involved with being a public site. after a couple years, they started adding high schools & it really started going downhill. then a few months after that, they opened up to anybody with an email address. that's when i took a year off & couldn't've cared less about it. right before i joined the air force, i started getting back on because it was easier to let all my friends & family know how i was doing & i periodically check it nowadays.

all that said, i think it's turned to total crap now but has somehow still managed to not be as sleazy as myspace. i still wouldn't care one bit if it was wiped from the interwebz.

what i don't get is if this group is serious about trying to destroy such a huge icon, why on earth would they have publicly announced it? God knows facebook has just as good of hackers & computer-land nerds working for them as they have & one of their fundamental missions is to NEVER crash. they've built enough crazy computer mumbo jumbo that could make a thousand elephants sterile just to keep from keeping a now-global enterprise from going down. and now these guys have just given them notice to double-check every crack & possible loophole in their system real bright
