Most of the people bashing don't own a Camaro or a Mustang. So I'd wager they are simply going off of what they've read on C&D or MT, etc.

the 5th gen camaro outsold the mustang for the first few years due to pent up demand. since the camaro 5th gen was the re-introduction sales flew BUT as demand caught up and those that had wanted a camaro got one, sales once again stagnated like it has over a larger % of the camaro vs stang years. check out this chart: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a1...-living-color/ google 2015-2020 sales and it's a similar story as the gen5 and now gen6 came out, mustang has continued to surpass in sales. that said... went to barrett jackson back in 16 iirc. the "track" out back that they were doing hot laps in had a charger, mustang and camaro. I will say, and I am NOT a dodge fan at all, the line at the dodge booth was 4x longer than either ford or chevy. those guys were plain having fun. music was loud, car was loud, passengers screaming out the windows. ford and chevy booths were quiet and drivers felt like sticks in the mud. seeing all that, how many left that event and stopped at the local dodge dealer and took a hemi home. sema the last couple years here in vegas had ford-sponsored events in the parking lot. chevy?? sure they have done some things but 2 of the larger events in the US and crickets from what we observed as 2 people that at the time, didn't own and weren't planning on buying a sports car. we have a 2020 ss. guy at work just bought a new daytona hemi. idling his car is 2x as loud as ours. if you want v8 rumble, dodge has it. just a couple observations from one who at the time, had no skin in any race. bought an ss a month ago and LOVE IT. never thought I'd be a camaro owner but don't regret anything about it and I preach the 6.2/a10 combo as one of the best drivetrains I have ever driven and tell anyone that will listen in the end not sure chevy is really doing the camaro justice in promoting it but I suspect some of that comes from having a bigger brother(vette) with a longer and arguably more noted past. mustang doesn't really have that(gt500 doesn't really count) and dodge keeps releasing faster versions but it's essentially the same car. chevy has a winner on their hands but doesn't seem to want to promote it. if they did sales might be different and lead to better or different reviews/articles/feedback. again all my .02 as a professed car guy but first foray in the world of v8's. |

LOL...actually the 3.6 puts out as much power as many of the early V8s did back in the 60s.sure there were L-88s and hemi cars, and the ford 427 cammer motors in crates, but they were much harder to get ahold of than people think.i did get to drive a 427 cammer that was in a 67 mustang once...it was a scary car.

I laughably took a 6 year loan out on my 1LE, once I did the math and realized I could do it at 2.4% why the hell would I give them any more of my money that I wanted the payment to be? :-) Of course this only works if you have good credit and the means to begin with. I'll always use someone else's money to my advantage if I can. |

It seems when Publix started it's rapid growth and expanding is when Lakeland started exploding. The related industries around there to Publix as well. Kinda like how Orlando a lot revolves around Disney, Universal. |

Choices were made and the result is 3rd place in sales. The folks that can overlook these deficiencies are on here with the “I don’t have a problem so therefore there is no problem” posts. I like liver and brussel sprouts on my pizza. Why isn’t that the most popular pizza. The magazine writers are all wrong.

Ive been wanting to post on this thread for a while....
Im either laughing or shaking my head reading it. Visibility is a bit limited... for 10 minutes as a few guys noted. But then again. My F-250 has big windows all around. And yet I ran my folks garbage can over because someone put it out in the road in front of my truck and I forgot. Cant see the first 8 or 10 feet in front of you... Our 2ss vert is my wifes DD. She has no problems. Even squeezing between my truck and the curb in our driveway. The truck could haul 20 golf bags, and pull a trailer with 20 golf carts to the counrty club. If I golfed or cared I would take the truck. Thats not why we have a Camaro. I like Mustangs and Challengers. I always preferred Camaros. Since the 60s. But Id take a properly done one of any of them. Dodge tends to rust though. And all that Fiat stuff has me not looking at them. But a Hellcat? How can you be a car guy and not want one? I owned a few Vettes. One a 69 vert with a 427. Tires were unable to hook.. brakes were not so good. Sounded and felt great though. But the first Gen 6 I drove was a Hertz rental in Fla... First time I put it to the wood I expected wheel spin and let off. All the early muscle cars Ive owned would have smoldered the tires and went sideways. I honestly never had a car that accelerated as hard as that Camaro. I had an 85 RX7. I liked it a lot. Went like hell. Handled great. But they used a lot of gas and oil too. Plus something about cracking in the engines. I dont remember. Had mine 2 years with zero issues. It was great in the snow with studded snows too. I kept the stock 13s with snows for winter. And 60/15s for summer. I dont know. I laugh at people who criticize. Mostly they have no clue. In the early 80s I was having a beer on my friends porch. My 78 HD Superglide was parked in the street right in front of us....His neighbor comes out and sits down and asks about the bike... "what kind of bike is that?" I said "its a Suzuki" He starts telling me how I should have bought a Harley... The friggin thing was parked 20 feet away and hes looking right at my bike and telling me what I shoulda done...he knew everything about Harleys... If I was to be able to afford one of all the cars Id love to have Id need a few warehouses. Id have a hell of a time picking a top 10 list. Often, the ones that arent the most popular when new... End up the most sought after 25 years later.

I get 21-26mpg on the free way depending on which way the wind blows "literally". A V8 with 455 hp at 70-80mph that gas mileage is excellent, and actually my car gets better gas mileage than my truck lol! By about 10mpg. Yet we pay gas guzzler tax and I wonder why? The only comment by the OP that's not true.... Quote:
I love my camaro as much as the next person, but I respect the other cars as well and acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses. That said, Pound for Pound, HP for HP. The Camaro is the better car overall. With obvious exceptions to Vettes, which I put in a different class. Last edited by FlukeSS; 06-07-2021 at 11:10 PM. |

I wonder how that 69 Vette would be on modern tires. I love my SS but I'd give up my SS and a left nut for a 69 427 Stingray. Loads of torque. |
