Dodge has come out publicly and said they DO NOT want the dealers marking the HellCat up. Im sure if your friend really wanted the Challenger he could call Dodge corporate and mention that the dealer has marked up the car.

To be exact they said that dealers can mark-up, but they're trying to discourage it. Dealers that put crazy ADM's on Hellcats, and as a result don't move the car, will not get a second allotment.
Allpar kind of pulled the rug out from under the dealers feet when they revealed that even a MSRP sale will result in a $5,000 profit per car for the dealer. This effectively eliminates the sob story that dealers pull of "MSRP barely makes us any money".

Dodge, Chevy and Ford can all say they don't want dealers to mark up their cars but there isn't much they will do about it. I don't want one but I think Dodge should be applauded for offering such a pair of cars, Challenger and Charger. This can only raise the bar for the next offerings from Ford and GM. The Hellcat will be fun to race against. I'm looking forward to running against one.

I felt the same way about the 5.8 GT500 and ZL1 when they first came out..

Then one day a pair visited Woodburn on the same day and I was disappointed by what I saw. The GT500 was turning 12.2's @116 and the ZL1 basically the same. Both were 6M cars, so it was the case of the driver being insufficient for the car.

I think the Hellcat will be the same way. Put a skilled driver who knows how the work the car in the seat and it'll fly..put John Q Public who happens to have a six figure income into the car on a rookie run down the track and he'll be pissed when his ZOMG 707HP SUPER CHALLENGER HELLCAT WOOO runs a mid 12 @118 and gets spanked by a cammed LS3/L99 car.

While the 15 Z06 will be an incredible machine I don't see anywhere near the media coverage nor industry excitement for it as compared to what the Hellcat has received. My guess is that the industry just sees this new Z06 as the replacement for the ZR1.

I agree with that too, but also I have a feeling this Z (C7Z) isnt going to be as much of an ass kicker as the C6Z was.
Hell, it took awhile for lambo to make a world beating gallardo, the c6z was taking names in 06 and beyond (f430, Ford GT, BMW M6, GT500, etc)! Save Viper ACR, but they made the ZR1 right after.

Now the C7Z is coming out, the lambo huracan is already set to do 0-60 under 3 secs. Technology and awd will have those 3 consistently at the top (911 Turbo, GTR, Huracan).

I dont know why, but i just cant get into the new Vette.

Anyways, back to topic, dealerships gonna stealership!

There isn't a lot of hype for the new Z06 because its no where near ready to come out yet. There have been no reviews of any kind and there wont be for a while. I will give Dodge some credit, they did do a good job of hyping up the Hellcat with the NHRA stuff they pulled.

No, the design killed those cars...

Back in '01 I sold a '02 ZO6 Vert and a z06 Coupe both with big mark ups and a 4x4 crew cab dually with a conversion pkg at asking price to one family and grossed $25k in commissions and a mandatory 2 week vacation, so it good on the salesman side to sell that high, hahaha.

The Crossfire was a good little coupe, but was pathetic in terms of power in a base model. The SRT6 version was quick, but expensive.

I'm not aware of issues in the designs, it was dealers throwing cold water on initial demand that cut their production short. There were customers willing to buy, but not for 10-20 over sticker. Dad tried twice to buy a tbird because mom thought it was cute, closest he got was 7500 over sticker and walked away laughing.

They don't seem to realize that those first few customers interested in a car are what will drive future demand for it... far more people see them on the road than will ever see a commercial or magazine ad for them. If you don't get the early adopters in the drivers seat, you won't sell any of them.

Exactly and Z06 will sell itself.
