Started watching the CNBC Special and I'm hearing a lot of things I didn't read about or know about previously. Like the 13 deaths, that number is what GM accepts, but the death toll is well over 50. And I knew GM was trying to hide the ignition switch problem, but I didn't know they flat out lied, in a sworn deposition, the Engineer who switched out the defective "detent plunger" never gave it a new part number. In his deposition he said "we Never switched out the detent plunger". He was later suspended with pay.

CNBC is replaying the show tonite at 10pm. They had such a high viewing audience last nite they decided to run it again tonite.

If you've never checked out Last Week Tonight on HBO i'd recommend you check it out. They talked about the GM recalls in a recent episode. I only know how to link so....

This is a positive move that Barra is using this to throw out the old GM. Corporate culture rolls downhill. Keep the recalls coming and let the teams responsible for them get exposed in the process.

I saw two news reports about the recall announced Tuesday saying it looks like GM is being more proactive in recalls and this is all due to Barra. I also saw part of the interview with the head of the NHTSA where he agreed that what GM is doing now is not a negative but a positive reflection on how the company is going to be run.

I see part of that, but I also see lets recall everything possible while the heat is on

as predicted, they're now recalling anything and everything that has a switch that could be possibly maybe be turned off if you hit it hard enough or have a brick hanging from it... which shockingly is everything.

In other news, I touched the exhaust manifold while working on my truck yesterday and burnt my hand... this is a serious safety defect and needs to be recalled immediately.

Next time you're buying a new car and can't believe how expensive they're getting.... remember all these frivolous recalls. We the customer will pay for every one of them.

GM is in talks with Ford to use their watercooled manifold so you shouldn't get burned in the future. This recall will probably extend to everything built after 2001.

why stop at 2001, lets recall everything that can be turned off. Like I said a few pages back in this thread, if ignitions that can turn off when you hang giant keychains on them or hit them is a recall issue, then it affects every car on the road that has an ignition switch.
