They are built by Ford Racing and are not and can not be made to be street legal. No street legal factory stock Mustang will ever touch a 302S or 302R at the track.

The rods that are used in the boss are extremely strong. They are made with a higher grade of metal than normal powdered rods. In fact, they are said to be the strongest rods ever used in Fords V8 history. That's a pretty bold statement considering the manley rods used in the 03-04 Cobra's. They had to be really strong to handle the high revving motor. The Boss motor can rev cleanly to 8,400 rpm when the factory rev limiter is bypassed.

I've seen people run well over 20psi, and surpass 1000hp on stock bottom end Boss Mustang's.

The new Boss rod is identical to the Coyote rod dimensionally and is still pressed from powdered metal, but uses a higher grade metal and has been beefed up with extra material here and there. The result is said to be the strongest connecting rod in Ford V-8 history, so it ought to give super- and turbocharger hot rodders newfound confidence when trying to lift the head gaskets with boost.

It's those rod's that allow you to throw on monster blower's like this and not have to worry about building your bottom end. Having these rods in the base S550 GT is pretty epic if u ask me.

What really happened was the S550 engineers came in and took all the good tables in the cafeteria, so the S engineers lapped them a couple of times and made them sit back with the accountants.
