Oh ye of little faith. I have a feeling a lot of folks are going to be very surprised when the 6th Gen Camaro drops.

More food for thought. I can't recall any car with better proportions than this other than the 65 GT350. A new classic? |

The renders looked better, and those didn't look too good.

I'll speculate the 200 lb. is off the Base curb weight. By substituting a turbo-4 for the current V6, some of the weight savings is apparent, right there. By paring some length, a few more pounds are saved. By going to "high tech" material and improved engineering and assembly processes, a few more. SRA to IRS add$, in weight as well.
Bottom line, no magic no-cost diet pill exists, for Ford OR for anyone else. Every component needs to be rationalized, just as they did with the Z/28. Just as they'll be required to do with the Gen-6 Camaro. Tomorrow's announcement should shed light on exact weights and dimensions, and power teams. I suspect a GT will come in at 3500 lb. or so with a stick. Styling? If you're a fan of the existing Mustangs, '05-forward, and the Gen-1s, '65-'70, you'll like it. Otherwise, it's not exactly revolutionary, but rather evolutionary. God knows, Ford has had their finger on the pulse of their customers for most of 50 years. |

I really hope GM doesn't screw up the styling of the 6th gen.

So far, I like it....especially the fast-back roof....the front end looks good, but the "blood-shot" headlights and fog-light area are a bit "edgy"...could have softened those up a bit....
Nice job, though....should make the 6th Gen Camaros interesting to see... |

You have to remember the ATS still has quite a bit of areas that can shed weight. Most of the body is still steel except for the hood. The control arms are all steel, etc. GM is not going to go as extensive on the interior and options, so there will be costs cut from there in which they could invest towards weight reduction by changing materials. a 3300-3400 lb Camaro SS is definitely not out of the question at all. Plus when shifting the platform to 2 door you can a lot of times shed weight. I really don't think it would be difficult for GM to make a 3300lb Camaro SS with the alpha platform.

3400-3500 lbs and 500hp stock for the GT by later 2014. Low 12s in 1/4? Looks pretty damn good too, but the 5th Gen Camaro still holds it own on that front IMO.

As for this new mustang, I am not a fan of the front or the back. The side profile looks great. I am hoping for a more aggressive front grille for the upgraded models on the reveal tomorrow. |
