At the time, there was no recall, but the released an updated head design mid-year. Dealer was no help, they just tried to sell me another subaru.

The Jeeps used the same CVT as Nissan, but yes, their tuning was terrible. Whhen I got my Patriot with the manual because I didn't care for the CVT at all. The manuals were way quicker and got considerably better fuel mileage.

That sux, just think if you got the turbo XT model. Weird how they dropped the turbo from the Legacy and Outback but kept it in the Forester albeit the new smaller 2.0L. Too bad its making less power then the outgoing Legacy GT. I can already see the next WRX having less power and slower acceleration, hopefully I'm wrong.

That's good to know theres another manual SUV on sale.

Yep, i really liked it, BUT if I was in the market for a small SUV the Forrester Manual would probably be at the top of my list. MT actually tested the manual and got 0-60 in arounf 7.5 seconds which is pretty well flying for the class (hi po turbos and optional V6s notwithstanding and even some of those are slower). Mindyou they called it slow, which i don't understand. Can't really think of ANY other small SUV with the base motor/transmission that comes in less than 8 or 8.5 0-60. Anyways......

Back when you could get a manual in a Forester turbo, Car & Driver was getting to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds with only 210hp.

Well, i was only talking about base models, not optional engined ones like the XT Forrester. Cars have put on so much weight it does hinder them quite a bit.
