Probably the most complete lineup Ford has had in decades, and next year it gets better -- the Festiva is coming, the Taurus SHO, and the coyote engine in the Mustang GT.

Having shed alot of its debt now, GM has the potential of pulling of a similar comeback. Solid lineup of trucks, the malibu, and of course the camaro (once they get q/c issues resolved).

Seriously, there's nothing in the Honda or Toyota lineups (or forecasts for that matter) that match up. They'll be the ones on the run...and remember, Toyota's losses last quarter beat GM's -- and they supposedly don't have the pension / healthcare / union burdens that GM had.

Except the venerable prius.... Oh that's right, the Volt should take care of that quite nicely...

Supposedly Toyota loses money on every Prius' sold, they continue to make them as an R&D initiative and as a 'halo' brand for the company.

They drive like crap, are overpriced and have poor TCO... and i honestly think the long term environmental impact of all those batteries will be worse than the carbon footprint offset.

I'd rather the Volt be successful, but I'm very skeptical of that one too.

I'm with Jeremy Clarkson on this...if people care about the environment, you should buy a Jetta TDI or a Festiva (or similar well engineered compact).

...esp. since the whole "carbon footprint" thing is pure BS.

The batteries are toxic, and if fire & rescue try to put out a Prius fire with water, can EXPLODE violently, all the while spewing quantities of highly lethal toxins into the air.

Question: Is anyone here part of Fire & Rescue? If so, have you had training on how to handle the issues from a battery breach/fire on a hybrid or electric car?

None are, to my knowledge.

How do you figure? The Volt's gonna cost almost twice as much. That extra $18k will buy a s@%tload of gas.

HAHAHAHA

but yea...Volt with a Camaro body...um no....

but i could totally see myself with a Volt. Sure its a bit expensive, and you could probably buy a lot of gas for the extra coin, but its a nice car, and i would love to not have to buy gas anymore for my daily commute, as my round trip is within the range of the volt's batteries
