G1 vs Palm-Pre (help)

So I am in desperate need of a new phone. I have a Razor still.
and no not the recent versions, I'm talking about the first ones that came out almost 4 years ago.

My contract is out so I can either go with a new company or stay with t-mobile.

I've heard nothing but amazing things about the palm-pre, but I'm not sure about switching to Sprint, and i can't wait until Janurary when verizon has it.

So I guess the real question is, what are your thoughts on the G1 Android phone, and/or Sprint service.

Honestly I would switch to at&t and get an iphone 3g for $99 or the new 3gS for $199
and if you dont want to do that, then get a g1, i've only heard bad things about the palm-pre... either way its your choice

Iphone isn't an option for me.
I don't like the At&T service.

what I mostly need is a good camera with good web surfing capabilities.

They haven't came across many major problems with it, but people say that the screen occasionally resets itself and the keyboard is to small and it takes a while for the phone to start up after you turn it on.
Its not a bad phone though the internet is pretty fast on it.

I think I'd choose the Pre over the Google phone. I wouldn't give up my iPhone, but if I had to, I'd get the Pre.

From my fiancee's mouth

Pre is geared towards business clients using it for e-mails and web browsing.

iphone and G1 is geared more towards recreational use (texting, web browsing).

I think if you want the camera, steer away from the Pre, but for e-mails and browsing, I would go for it.

I personally use a phone as a phone and love my Samsung Alias (Verizon exclusive). But I have a digital camera and a computer to browse the web with.

uuuh, have you checked forums like www.precentral.net? some people are on their 4th pre and they're still having dead pixels, bubbles under the screen and other crap. oh and build quality...

i'm in the same boat as you. i also have one of the first razr's and am looking for a new phone. i went to sprint and played a bit with the pre, looks nice. but i have yet to see how the navigation system is since i'd like a phone that i can use as a "real" nave in my car.
