Test drove 2008 Lancer Evolution X
I took out a 2008 Lancer Evolution X GSR with the 5 speed manual for a testdrive over the weekend with a friend of mine. What a wicked ride. It has to be the best handling car I've ever driven. You can take corners in that thing at any speed you want and it pulls incredibly hard for a 4 cylinder, with no turbo lag. Very tempting. But still, I have to wait for the 5th gen to come out, which shouldn't be much longer. But man, that Evo is tempting. What a bad ass ride. At least I know for sure what my alternative is. If the Camaro, for whatever reason, doesn't do it for me, or if the dealer experience is bad, I know where I'm going, straight for the Evo!

The guy has the right to his personal taste.
I saw a decked out EV0 X with springs and RAY's lieghtweight racing wheels, to say the least it looked SICK!!! While I like the car I can't get with it, it's simiply to flashy and there's not enough leg room inside. Hope it turns out you can join the 5th-gen club in the end!

I probably will, or I may lose some respect from people on this forum for praising a Mitsubishi. But, it doesn't hurt to see what's out there. I won't do anything until the 5thgen comes out. I think my test drive of the Evo was more a product of the long wait for the 5th gen. The impatience starts to set in and you get curious with what's out there. But I want to hear that Detroit V8 burble when I drive my next car. I have owned nothing but imports and they are great cars. But rice rocket exhaust notes get boring after awhile. 5th gen is still at the top of my list, plus I enjoy this forum and the people in it. That's another incentive to get a 5th gen. |

As Dragoneye stated, we have a lot of love for other rides around here. The new Evo is a huge visual improvement over the swiss cheese-looking previous front end. I'd love to drive one, but there's really no justification. I'm already sold on the Zeta.

if you think the evo handled well, go drive a Porche Cayman S. stuck to the road.

Is this the 40k one? I respect what they can do, but I always associate the young punk ricer image with those cars.

Nah its 33k. With the DSG the price will probably up. However, I have never seen a 4 cylinder respond so well to modifications. AMS performance has probably gotten almost 80-100awhp after simple mods like intake, exhaust. No new tune or upping the boost. It is REALLY impressive or mistubishi must have just been really conservative in their piping sizes.

I put up a thread about this car somewhere on here...
the old evo was at the most respectable...and at the least butt ugly. its a vast improvement. If I hear about a Porche again....coworker has a porche and loves to compare it to my z28...the guy drives me crazy! |

Although I hate rice, I give credit where it's due, and the Evo definately deserves credit. Those things are just plain sweet and even though they have a lot of ricer looks to them, they deliver on all the important things.
