In the past you needed a V8 to get any kind of performance what so ever. Now, you really don't need a V8 unless you're talking about a Camaro, Corvette, or the new Chevy SS which will be their hot family sedan. The LLT is a great, world class engine. It's GM's best V6 ever. Better than the 3800. And it is more than adequate for a top of the line Impala. Notice how the Malibu doesn't even offer a V6 now. It will have only the 2.5 L4 and the 2.0T. Actually, the days are numbered where you even really need a V6 for good performance. Depending on how sophisticated GM wants to get with their technology, as a reference Honda was making 200hp in their 2.2 L4 in 1999 without a turbo while most V6 engines were at 200 hp. So 13 years later the technology and capability is no doubt there to make small engines powerful, reliable, and efficient. I know all the old timers are "used" to seeing a V8 under the hood of a top of the line Chevy Impala, but it's just not practical or necessary today. You want a really hot 4 door Chevy wait for the Chevy SS. But the LLT equipped Impala will be faster than any previous V8 equipped Impala. |

I think it looks sharp. The only thing I'd change is the steering wheel. It's just too frumpy--a three-bar wheel like what's on the current Camaro would've been more presentable. Tough to choose between this and the Taurus, but either one is better than anything in the segment from Honda, Nissan or Toyota.

Also, to clear up a few factual errors with your post. The 2014 v6 Impala is slower than the SS models from the early 2000s. In addition, I hope me being in my mid 20s doesn't make me a so-called "old timer". |

GM does not have a turbo V6 in production, maybe in the future they will. But if they turbo'd the LLT I am quite sure it would run with or beat the SHO. The Altima's GM competitor is the Malibu. It's a mid-size. It is smaller and weighs less than the Impala. The Maxima would be a more suitable reference, and it does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds so it's not going to beat the Impala by over a second. |

![]() The crossover SUV market has never really excited me. As far as I'm concerned, anything less than a Jeep (Compass & Patriot excluded) should not be considered a SUV, rather tall wagons or sport vans. That's why I give the Aztek a pass, because I see that whole market as ugly cars. The Aztek, while hideous, still managed to fit within the looks of other Pontiacs... To me, this Impala comes across as a bad mix of previous generation lines that don't fair well with a modern spin. Aside from the badges, I don't see as strong of a tie-in, with the rest of the lineup. I feel that the Impala would be better off looking like a larger Malibu.

Hey King, why does it have black rockers and rear bumper cover? I hope it is not going to be sold that way.....
