Not to sidetrack the thread, but between the "cookie cutter" COT, the "cookie cutter" 1.5 mi. tracks, and the majority of over payed, whining, excuse making drivers who are more prevalent in NASCAR anymore, I'll take a "sissy tea drinking open wheeled..." race(r) over NASCAR anyday.

I'm not looking to start an argument/discussion over what series is better. It's just my opinion that watching an F1 race, there isn't that constant whining, and, a good number of F1 drivers could drive circles around a good number of NASCAR drivers.

It seems to me NASCAR has become more concerned with a "show", whereas F1 focuses on actual racing.

(and this comes from a person who followed NASCAR for over 25 yrs., and was and still is, a HUGE fan of Dale Earnhardt)

^ In truth I agree. I was poking fun at how, back then, the NASCAR drivers treated the other guys. I will be the first to admit that if you want overall driving skill, you won't find it in NASCAR. If you want to be entertained, NASCAR is the way to go.

I used to disagree with that (^) back when I followed the sport and watched Sr. driving the Wrangler/Goodwrench car, but watching today's NASCAR, I feel referring to NASCAR as the WWE isn't so far of a stretch.

But, I'm not here to bash NASCAR. "To each their own". It just isn't the same nor as enjoyable for me anymore.

I'm really torn. I enjoy the personalities of NASCAR, but I love the technology of F1. I grew up a huge Dale Earnhardt fan (and still go to a race or two per year and root for Jr.), and I'm not going to say his death caused the change in NASCAR, but it's still not the same. As a matter of fact, unless Kerry Earnhardt's son becomes a huge phenom, once Jr. retires I'm probably going to forget about NASCAR altogether and try to get to Europe for a F1 race or two.
