Now, even though the GT 500 is boosted to 100+ more horsies than the BOSS, we can't compare a ZL1 to a BOSS...ONLY to a GT 500... Oh really?!

Credibility, my friend, suffers when your requests and logic FAIL in the face of previous experiences...

Again, you can put a JATO on a jalopey and, in a straight line, TADA! "Look at that time slip!!!" [gasp-gasp]

WE DON'T KNOW, for sure...do we? ANY of us...DO WE?!

But don't change the basis of comparison NOW, after Ford itself has recognized (to this point) that, REGARDLESS of motor-vation, the BOSS LS is KNOWN as "Ford's TRACK STAR"...and frankly, I'll be surprized that a JATO-equipped nose-heavy Stang will better the BOSS by very much. Again, it's NOT what's under the hood that will automatically win on a road course...it's HOW you get around a road course that COUNTS. IRS...MRC...305s...V-I-C-T-O-R-Y??...even spotted 80 hp and 300+ lbs...

"Yeah, but what about 1/4-mile???" Hang your hats on THAT one...that's your BEST CHANCE.
There is a lot you are either missing or just ignoring. The 13 GT500 is so much more than just a power upgrade. the gearing, the suspension, the aero, the brakes, the power, it is all improved. the GT500 gets a new launch control and stability system for track use, an optional DUAL MODE BILSTIEN suspension, the stock suspension is like last years PP, BUT will have the extra HP, BRAKING, and aero as other GT500 models. Not to emntion 300 less pounds to lug around. that is 300 less pounds to lug around and is like adding another 30 HP to the GT500s HP advantage, so instead of an 82 HP advantage, looking at power to weight it is more like a 112 HP advantage. Face it, Ford has made this a one sided fight. Also, it seems like Edmunds tested all 4 mustang trims back to back in 2011 and the GT500 WAS faster than the Boss in their testing. Tunnel vision will get you so far, but you can't beat physics.

LOWDOWN, you are still hanging on to the pre-production times. Give me a P R O D U C T I O N ZL1time in a roadcourse. Have you ever driven in a roadcourse? Have you ever driven a SVT-PP GT500? Have you any idea the countless upgrades done to the new GT500? My guess is no.
I bet you really think the pre-production cars are 100% like the ones you buy at the dealership. If you know what you are talking about, any roadracer will take a Boss over a ZL1 or GT500 to go 10 laps anywhere. Do you even know why? When the ZL1 580hp was announced, you were one of the proclaimers that ZL1 will beat the GT500 in a 1/4 mile and now listen to you, now you are blabbering VIR time. WHEN the GT500 beats the ZL1 in VIR, I wonder what you are going to say then? Carpet color comparison? Wake up and smell the coffee, more and more people are opening to the fact that the new GT500 will own the ZL1 and giving credit where credit is due. But I am glad you have conceeded the 1/4 time to the snake, soon you will be eating crow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing one launched too. 395lbs of torque at 1000 rpm..... this is really going to be one helluva launch!

Has Ford considered an IRS for the Mustang? Not looking to start an arguement, just curious

Funny...your word again...TWO 2nd Place Overall in the One Lap of America...run in GENUINE GMs...an event NO FORD HAS EVER WON...since 1984...run regardless of weather, drag races excluded...

Road course...auto-X...1/4-mile...where BALANCE and DRIVING CAPABILITIES win over 'net chat, buddy...

VIR...Lightning Lap...NOT prototypes...check YOUR times, and BOSS is BEST...

Oh, as for GT 500 upgrades...carbon fiber driveshaft has me REALLY worried...

I'd be more worried about a 2 piece drive shaft myself.

I suspect though that the ZL1 will outsell the GT500. It looks killer, and therefore has a wider appeal. For the people who really want performance to the nth degree - they can always mod.
Looks are subjective. I looked allll over a ZL1 a week ago at my local Chevy dealer. Sure, it looks nice. If I saw one drive by, I'd give it a look and think to myself it's a nice looking car. But I wouldn't stop what I'm doing to watch it until it was out of view. The GT500, on the other hand, yea, I would gawk at that one until it was gone. But that's just one opinion.

The only affective aero change is a deeper front splitter. A trip to the parts counter will remedy that for the '11/'12. The open upper/lower grilles on the '13 are for additional cooling. But whatever...
HIDs, yes. LED, no. 10-12 have standard bulb tail lights, even though they are sequential.

They've succombed to tuner-shop hype...a common symtom is Ford-land apparently...

Yep, every redneck I know won't even race unless it's on a road course.
