oh, I get it. It's like the self-parking/park assist features offered in many cars. It's there and might be fun to talk about in a group setting, but I figure very few people actually use it.

Like you said. Preferences rule.

1. glass roof is stupid
2. who cares about nav
3. I DON"T HAVE ANY GAS GUZZLER TAX TO PAY
4. Forged internals don't cost much (pistons are all I need)
5. blower kit is not more than the difference in price.
6. don't need to knock off the weight.

Its true. My ZL1 is open to any and all 2013 GT500 factory stock base models that want to have a go at it. We'll see in short order that ZL1 is KING in an apples to apples comparison. My 67 Camaro is lighter and has more power than my ZL1 will, but I doubt it could keep up to the ZL1 either.
Just accept the obvious and realize the ZL1 is the leader of the pony car pack.

Once you add the stuff needed to make it even competitive with the ZL1, your priced WAY higher.
For 70k I can forge internal and blower up my ZL1 to out power the 500 anyway...I see this as a fail for the Shelby big time cause its a lame attemp to undermine the ZL1 with a last ditch effort that falls short of the mark.
Long live the KING =ZL1.
wow... lol
That's true denial, and anger.

If you were closer to me, I'd take you up on that. I am buying a ZL1 but I'd also buy a new GT500 just to race your ZL1 in any track you want, stock for stock, pink for pink...and/or what ever you wanna put in wager Since you say you have a '67 then you must know the history of COPO/ZL1 as a drag strip car not a roadcourse car....wonder why no one is predicting a straight line race win for the ZL1 vs the GT500 anymore?

Because a live rear axle + 70 more horses and lighter is a win win win in a drag race, to me. That would be a suicide gamble to me.

You could really just go out and buy one to prove a point? Are you hiring?

I can buy one at MSRP, then turn around and sell it to one of my buddies at a mark up.

WOW. The new gt500 is priced right and will be a fast car. the only negative on this car is just if you don't like mustangs. one of the ride along people said the suspention was harsh which is proabaly true but who buys a mustang for cadilac ride.

The car is not stripped down even base, where do you get this? it's a stripper from?
You're talking like the car comes with no interior and a lawn chair for a seat. lol

and again we don't know if it will compete on the track AS IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED.
the level of bench racing is too high!

as much time as teh last GT500 gave up without the track pack it is about 99% that it will struggle in this area as delivered. It definatly will not be able to be continually lapped.

I get it. I am not trying to sell the Nav system but merely pointing out that it is not "just" a screen for going places, like you were inferring. It "wakes up" the Sync and Sirius features. To be honest, I hardly use it anymore.

I have always been a Chevy fan, but honestly, i wouldn't mind owning a GT500... I'm still not paying $1,100/month for any car and I certainly wouldn't drop a large sum down just to get a reasonable monthly payment...

So you are admitting the Ford is a 1/4 car only and the ZL1 will be the track champ?

The cars are going to be priced similarly as I figured they would.

The way I would option the car it would come out to $58,490 which is a reasonable price. And just a little more than the ZL1.

Both cars will offer advantages. For the ZL1 the suspension is more advanced. For the GT500 the engine is more advanced and better built(ie forged internals).

It will come down to personal preference for the majority of the people.
