It took a man to walk away like he did, maybe not exactly what I would have done but it is what it is.

If the Op chased down said d bag, and they started fighting in the street, both of them would be going to jail. I don't know about Florida law, but here in Cali, both drivers are going in for road rage. Not saying I wouldn't risk it but it is something to think about if you have a family.

That's why I said you never know until it happens to you. Leave the cars out of it. Someone spits on me, I guess we're both going to jail.

In the OP's situation, he chases down the other car and gets his azz beat (he said "guys" in the other car), or gets shot.

He does nothing and he's a *****..........cat.

Was it guy or guys? He used both so I'm not sure if it was one guy or a car full of guys. It wasn't really clear and I just assumed it was one guy.

If it was like 3 or 4 guys, then ok I can understand. Your prob not gonna win that fight.
I doubt anyone had a gun though.

Another thing I didn't notice at first, I guess third day is a Christian rock group or something?

I'll just leave the thread now.

Every issue doesn't have to end with someone getting shot, and most of them don't.
And if your reasoning behind never standing up for your self is "what if" then you will always be a victim.
I get what you are saying, and trust me, I do not let everything slide. I can hold my own, and do when necessary. Don't assume because of one situation that people, myself included, are afraid to stick up for themselves. I am not willing, however, to risk getting shot by some punk because he was trying to pull me into just that. I grew up in LA, and have had too many friends shot and killed for just that type of stupid stuff. I don't know what people have in their cars, and I'm not willing to leave my kids fatherless over something like that. For all I know, dude wanted me to chase him so him and his buddy could shoot me and take the car. I won't dwell on it for the rest of my life because there is no point. It happened. It sucks. Dude will get his in the end. I guarantee it. Whether it be from me, someone else, or God, the guy will be handled.

You didn't just sit there and wonder or guess and say maybe he has a gun.
You actually saw the gun, so that's a whole different story.

I bet you don't feel bad about yourself when u look back at what happened.
And when you tell that story, no one is questioning your manhood.

But if you just sat there, and never opened your door. Never saw the shotty, and he just drove off after spitting on you. You would think differently about yourself today.

Being smart and being a coward are two different things.

You were being smart.
I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and trust that you are not calling me a coward. Brother, I have spent the last 15 years of my life defending other people, you included. I have been to Iraq, and every other hell hole on this earth for the sake of your freedom and ability to say stupid stuff like this from behind a computer. Like I said, don't make the mistake of thinking that because of one situation where I took the high road, that I am afraid to stick up for myself, or you, or anyone else if need be.
If I read your post wrong, then so be it, but you should REALLY think before you go posting things like this.

I think I might have called 911 and reported him as a drunk driver.
Let the LEO'S deal with his stupidity...

When I was 18-25 I would have probably responded much more aggressively so I can get where some of those guys are coming from.

My response to that action now would be very similar to the Op.. but i'm 30+ now. My priorities have changed and overall my life is pretty good. I feel that I have alot to lose. Things can escalate out of control pretty quickly.

I hope the OP isn't taking any of the criticism too seriously. This is the internet and you're dealing with people (of varying testosterone levels) that are at different stages in their lives.

I think the OP made the right decision by keeping cool...
I don't know the OP personally but I'd still say without a shadow of a doubt that his life is more valuable than any defacement or potential damage to his car!

OP............sorry to see this happen to you. Its easy to see by you're writings, that you're a decent and reasoning person. You might take solitude in the fact that one day sooner or later, the spitter..................will get their dues whenever some other careless and thoughtless jerk more mean spirited than them cross paths. Have a better day friend.

If you're going to get mad over spit and regret not 'making him pay' for it...or worse act on that emotion, then I feel more sorry for you than him. There are things worth getting upset over and there are things that are simply not worth it. You'll never be able to fully enjoy life if you can't let the little things go.

Being a strong person is to know when to act. Pretending to be a strong person is just acting on everything.
