Article about government mandating what we drive.

http://autos.aol.com/

Hope things do not turn out this way!

Sorry, This article was about the future of Corvettes and Camaros and I thought a lot of people would be interested in it.

It's more like a warning to the posts to come in this thread.

That is the most idiotic, assumption-based article I've ever read (except every article about Toyota).

There's no reason for that to happen. IF...a huge "IF"...the gov't wanted to dictate specific vehicles, they'd have to have a personal vendetta against cars like the Camaro SS and the Corvette, because they get similar mileage as most large sedans and small SUVs, as well as the fact that they make up a minute percentage of all vehicles sold in the US.

You must not watch the news much... every time they trot out one of these elected officials they go off on a rant about how GM is failing BECAUSE they make gas guzzling cars that have poor quality that nobody wants to buy.

I'm not making this up. They practically say what I said verbatim like it's rehearsed from a script.

Worse yet, the interviewer smiles and nods and accepts the statement without question and I think they actually give credibility to the misconceptions that are being presented by not asking for proof or at least coming back with some facts and figures of their own.

I'd love to see someone INFORMED talk with these officials.

No, I do...believe me I do...

But I was basing that statement off the fact that anyone in 'control' of making these theoretical decisions will be in such a position as to have intimate knowledge of such products. I believe they will then cease their prattling and move on to bigger things like...an energy policy.

Facts don't matter in the least bit with government. The liberal elite only cares about appearances. Why do you think the greenies love the Lexus LS and RX hybrids? They get crappy gas mileage, but they make a show of being "green". The Camaro has the image in some people's minds of being dirty or irresponsible. It doesn't matter what the facts are, if the people with political influence don't like something on biased perceptions, they'll shut it down.
