I can speak from experience in saying Ford is not known for using the most durable transmissions. I can't count the number of T5's that my buddies and I have self destructed back in the day. Then move forward a bit to my PS F350, a turbo diesel V8 with a 4R100 tranny rated at under 400hp.

This one is a Getrag-Ford joint venture built in China.

I just don't understand how most people don't have problems, then individual owners can go through multiple transmissions having the problem over and over again. . .

It's not skip-shift. The skip-shift is only in the GT and V6 owners (along with Land Rover Defender and Ford Transit Vans with the MT82) have the same issues. I'm in a lemon case now after my second tranny went at 5000 miles.

This one shows it better:

What do ya think of that, Pill?

Good question. I think it is very isolated and a small percentage. I'm interested to see the final outcome and % of affected cars.

I can say mine is working beautifully.

1980 with a self built 85roller motor

1983 notch 5.0 with self built ported head roller motor and 125shot

96 gt with a bolt on 4.6, 5.4 3valve, 58mm,80mm,64 mm forged turbo, and
1000hp self built turbo

2011GT.

and you know. i had to build all of my own motors to satisify my needs. looks like the 2011 is no different.

i bought this car because i thought i wouldnt HAVE TO FOOL WITH IT.

my builds are on the corral and stangnet. i have more of a right to complain than most. once again i have to work around a ford defect.

I built my own foxbodied E7TE 302 back in the day that was spanking most every aluminum headed 302 out there at the time. I did it because I wanted to, not because I had to. I also ran the same stock T5 trans for several years without issue when other owners were blowing their trans up weekly/monthly.

I have had 0 issues with my 2011. It has been rock solid. There is no ring gap issue. There is no transmission issue. It takes every ounce of punishment I throw at it.

Are you a "shitty tune" victim who is harboring bad feelings about it pointing the finger at someone/something else?

Do/did you have a clutch issue that you weren't able to diagnose quickly enough so it caused the transmission to take a dump?

Do/did you run 87 octane in your car with a 93 octane "race tune"?

You sure fit the bill for a "complainer". You should sell your Mustang and get what you really want, CTS-V or a Camaro.

Maybe the community members are more tolerant. It has grown old in the Mustang community.

It has NOT grown old in the Mustang Community.

I've had two transmission failures in my 2011 GT by 5000 miles. No mods. No abuse. No track time.

There are over 100 complaints now to the NHTSA... and they doubled in the last 48 hours.

There are almost 6000 posts at AFM from owners complaining about this from 700+ unique screen names.

And you troll the heck out of owners at the SVT Mustang site... and now a Camaro forum???

Well, there's a whole debate on the #8 Cylinder going, and it just so happens to go after the vehicle is tuned. People are trying to argue that the engine was faulty, and the advanced timing of the tune pushed that fault over the limit, thus blowing the defective #8 cylinder. Apparently it has something to do with the knock sensors in the block. From what I've seen and can tell, most of the engines have been defective, at least in MY sole opinion (that this has happened to), and Ford is trying to cheap out and say you tuned the engine so no fix for you. Funny how people are running boost and much more rwhp with no problems.

I do wish the best for Ford, as I think the 5.0 is one bad ass engine, and the Stang is a badass machine overall. I just think the Camaro's better, that's all

I will say that my 2008's second gear seems to clash while the trans is warming up, but it's characteristic of the TR3650 used since the mid-01 stangs. Already had the dealer replace the synchros, and have been through about 4 trans fluids. Just accepting it now. Thank god it doesn't grind.

I have a question for anybody that knows the answer. I told a Mustang owner at work about this and he said he knew about it and then he told me the CORVETTE used to have the same gear box thats messing up on the Mustangs now. Is this true? Just curious....
