This is true. I know of the issues faces by the Camaro and GM engines, but by this time most of them are well known and have TSB's out for them. They are now "old hat" so to speak to the general car buying public. The problems with the 5.0 are just arising now and as such (since most of the car buying public are a bunch of fickle mushheads) the newness of these problems and news of them will turn a few potential Stang buyers towards GM''s showrooms. For the most part most people buy a car based on what the most recent magazine they have read says about them. If the reports speak of knocking issues and unreliability in the new stock powerplant they may just go elsewhere.

Uh, since when has an exhaust given 30 hp? If you're talking full headers maybe, more likely with a tune but that voids your warranty.

This is nothing new. We all know the rules. Some choose to test the boundaries and some of those get burnt.

Well at least they offer the FRPP performance packs with supporting calibrations for those who want to keep their warranties.

I think it has been covered here before. Several owners got a bad aftermarket tune, blew their engines and caused a shitstorm becuase Ford gave them the middle finger on warranty. Ford issued the mentioned tsb as an official response. This is no different than GM. Some of you guys are way over optimistic to find a fault somewhere with Ford and the new 5.0. Makes me smile.

Of course Ford is doing this to protect themselves, and they should.

When a new engine comes out in a car like the Mustang, several aftermarket companies will hurry to push out a computer tune so they can make a profit before interest in the car dies down. Personally, I believe this can sometimes lead to aftermarket companies producing a tune that is untested and may put undue strain on the car. This is why I would suggest waiting a couple of years before going with a computer tune, or sticking with OEM mods.

Bunch of mediocre tuners trying to chase numbers to please customers without the experience to tune a high comp, high-revving, TI-VCT engine. All the pdf said was the dealers are supposed to check if the car was tuned before covering a blown engine. Perfectly reasonable.

Wow, Ford isn't beating around the bush. I think that was written more for the general public than it was for their techs.

I'm sad to hear that some service techs will now blame major piston knock on your axleback exhaust system.

Hmm
I frequent a few mustang forums and I have only seen 3 piston failures. One was using nitrous, the other had bolt ons and a tune from a shop that has a horrible reputation, and the third claimed to be stock. It seems to be a, "the sky is falling" problem, but only time will tell.
