Ya, before I do anything more to my car I'm going to look around C5F for some ideas. Haven't had a desire to dress up my engine bay yet.

I say this because my LS1 train is LOUD. LS3 trains are probably louder.

It's one thing I notice on 4th gens more too on heat; these hoods need heat extractors because there's very little clearance over the intake manifold than what's in the 5th gen design. They heat up really fast if you get on them hard. I may look into getting vents put in on the hood down the line.
i agree on the heat extractor and the ones on the zl1 are naaaaaaawce....and yes there is alot of piston skirt slap noise when you take everything off and to an untrained ear ppl can mistake this for alot of things so i think in order to avoid unnessary visits to the dealer...so gm took the quiet side of things

That's what I'm talkin' bout! I seriously want to do T/A special MRM covers on mine because my block has got so much junk all over it that no matter how much degreaser and cleaner I put on it it still streaks. :/

Damn aluminum blocks. At least they won't rust to hell and back like Iron Blocks.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm surprised you can hear it out of the manifold.. I never heard it, more over the covers and heads.

I don't think I have so much slap as just 'clicky' arms and lifters (even for an LS1). Nothing big. Hence why I want to cover them up and put some sound deadening padding on the backside to cover up the major clicks. If I have to pull the interior I may also dynomat the car (except for around the trunk pan so I can hear the note under load ).

It's not that expensive, right?

I took mine off shortly after I brought mine home. I didn't care for the cheap plastic look of the cover.
