yeah, but only in the 1/4. gotta fill up that nitrous tank sooner or later.... the GT500 has the power all the time.

Steve

did you check under the car to see if they went down the underside of the body?

I might as well get in on this too. Here is my .02. The GT500 is a nice looking car, don't think it is as aggressive looking as the camaro, but is good for a mustang to say the least. Here what i don't get...why are we comparing a (most likely after all markups) a 50k+ car to a 31k car? I mean a base SS costs you 31k, and we are just talking performance right now. 19k is a lot, i can go buy a new silverado for that, or a used GTO. lol. I mean thats a lot of money to just ignore. Even if you did get a GT500 for 45k its still 14k difference. Wow, i just can't ignore that fact in this arguement. You can get a used z06 that would probably blow the doors off a gt500 for that money. Just a thought though. Of course a car that is 10k+ more is going to perform better, duh. Around the track it probably won't, which is sad, but in a straight line, have fun. But like was said, dollar for dollar, a camaro can be faster than a GT500. Put a cap on it, and i think the camaro would still win.

We're doing his because it's all there is to do while were waiting on the production Camaro's to get into owners hands. 90% of what has been thrown out in this thread is speculation or hearsay regarding the actual performance of both cars and it will remain so until both the Camaro and Mustang variants hit he streets, drag strips and road courses.

The only people who are comparing the SS Camaro to the GT500 are the die-hard GM people that cannot seem to handle the fact that GM does not currently produce a pony car that competes directly with the GT500. If/when they produce one, then I will be one of the first people looking to buy one to put in the garage next to the GT500.

In the end, this is the performance hierarchy,as they stand today, between the Mustang and the Camaro in stock form:

GT500>Camaro SS>MustangGT>Camaro V6>Mustang V6.

Once we have verified performance data, this could very well change, but for now, this is how it looks to play out.

What dont you like about the inside....?? I think it is very modern, well laid out and pretty darn good looking, especially feature wise. Unfortunately, I'm still unsure about the Camaro center-stack (radio console). I'm still thinking it looks a little too gimicky

Ebay

Have there been any 2010 Camaros on Ebay yet, if so I have not seen any. I did come across this 2010 GT 500 however. When the Camaros do hit Ebay it will be interesting to see what the Dealers try to get for them.

Yup. It looks good ... that's reason why ... well ONE of the reasons why ... we NEED a 550HP Z28 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

There have been a few "spots" posted by dealers. One auction, about a month ago, was at a buy it now of $50,000 and was for the first "dealer allocated" car of theirs. It was somewhere in Texas. It never got a bid.

Another was for a bid for "your deposit, and spot on the waitlist." According to the listing, the higher the bid, the higher on the waitlist priority you would be. That bid got up to $4850, then the auction cancelled. That was from a dealer in Ohio.

Some of these activities should be illegal. This one above reminds me of the whole Illinois scandal going on right now. Pay to play....

You also have to watch the fine print or lack of. Some Dealers charge up to $750 Dealer Doc fees, while some are as low as $150. This is a hidden mark up. On my last new car I bought the end of Nov. the Doc fee was $579 but I negotiated it down to $379 plus free delivery.

Document fees are 100% dealer profit and you should be able to get out of them altogether if you will just hold your ground in the finance department. Most dealers wait to spring this on you right before you sign for the car knowing full well 99.9% of buyers will not walk out on the deal for a few hundred dollars. I've walked away from at least 3 deals, in the finance office, due to "doc fees". In each case, the dealer agreed not to charge me the fee. You have to remember, the dealer has time and money tied up in the deal too, and they don't want to walk away from a sure sale either.

All the other drivel aside, why do so many people quote the base price (employee base price, at that) of a 2SS Camaro [$30,738.45] and then use the fully loaded MSRP for the GT500 when making comparisons?

Here is the reality, based on MSRP of a fully-optioned car from each camp (using Edmunds.com):

A fully optioned GT500 has an MSRP of $51,575

A fully optioned 2SS has an MSRP of $39,595

That is not a $19K difference, it's $11,980. Yes, that is still a pretty big gap in price, nobody can argue that, but please, let's dispense with the idea that the MSRP on a 2SS is going to be $31K.

The new GT500 is a great looking car. It kills me that Ford will have the king of the road title in the power category. God I wish a Z28 model would come out, the LSA would be a perfect match for this Ford.

I like it, it looks good and it will be interesting to see what the 40 HP and suspension tune do for it…

Anyone else think the front end is starting to resemble the Super Duty front end a little???

Sorry had to…
