Just because I drive a modified car doesn't mean I care about yours. (rant)
Why is it that whenever you drive a car that has a few modifications, everyone else with exhaust on the planet feels the need to try and show you up in normal traffic? I have a current-model Mustang GT that's blue with white stripes, and has headers, exhaust, CAI; just some basic modifications but nothing real special. Yet at least once a day on the interstate, some moron spots my car and does a ricer flyby. Good job dumb***, you can risk causing an accident to beat a guy who isn't even racing against you.
Case in point. Today I was driving down I-35 in the right hand lane because my exit was coming up. I see this guy in an '06 GTO creep up along side my car, and then all the sudden he floors it and starts swerving through traffic. Good thing he did that too, because I never would have known that LS2-powered GTOs are fast if he hadn't started driving like a douche. Is it really necessary to endanger so many people for me to notice you also enjoy performance vehicles? I can understand why people would want to show off your ride, but any person who has modified their own car for gains knows how to spot another performance vehicle, so there's really no purpose in being irresponsible so others will notice. But trucks are the worst. One of the worst things about living in Texas is having to deal with stupid people in trucks. I can't tell you how many times I've been "gunned" on by rednecks. This guy earlier this week gunned on me at a red light with his 2500 Dodge Ram. It had 6" exhaust tips, about a foot of lift, and a bunch of other crap. On a side note, 2k worth of mods won't change the fact that your truck is a Ram (Don't get me wrong, I like some of Dodge's stuff, but their trucks just don't stack up against Ford's or Chevy's; I've heard the new ones are decent though). When the light turned green, the dude took off, and then looked back to see why I wasn't wasting my time racing him. It could have been that I think drag racing in busy intersections is retarded, or maybe it was the cop in the nearby parking lot. Either way, I got a good laugh as the cop's lights turned on and he went after him. Idiots in trucks wouldn't piss me off any more than these other morons, but trucks with huge lift kits on them are so incredibly dangerous to other cars when they're being driven by jackasses. I hope they fall while getting out of them. /rant |

what about when you are cruising to work in a 94 ford escort LX with no bumper and these dip#$%^ want to race?
had some stupid high school kid try and do some F&F crap in the rain last week. I casually merged into his lane forcing him off the road..... into the turn median.... I wanted to put him in the wall, cus I know the kid and he talks crap about how much power per liter his preylude has.... I just laugh cus my pos escort could take him. and he doesnt even wanna try my Z28.

That type of dangerous behavior is downright unnecessary. I'm glad the cop got him.

Hello!
|
Those type of peopel are not auto enthusiast! Those type of people are morons!
I too had a modified car (just sold it) and it seemed every light I was suppose to be racing someone! Same thing on the highway...flybys were normal! I don't understand it either but one thing I know is my car was heavily modified and I could of taken most of them I'm pretty sure...since most people like this only have an exhasut and rims...intake too usually. Plus, most of these types didn't do the work either...they paid someone! It's a fact of life with modified cars...can you even begin to imagine what it's going to be like with a Camaro SS! I did all the work on my car and appreciated the labor that went in to it...so a street race was the last thing on my mind!! I took it the track if I wanted to race!! That another thing...very few people like this will go to the track because they know they don't have anything to show off...it's easier doing a flyby or trying to get you to race froma stop light in traffic! They never lose this way! |

I have had similar issue in My 67 Nova SS it's been street drive most of it's life, but very healthy SB with lost of duration in an all steal but very light car can be a hand full even at the strip ie (the street isn't for racing). So I just let them think their all that and leave them be. Just hope when the act like J-hole that PD is around. My 2 cents.

thats one thing i liked about my 335i, it blended through traffic until i decided to lay down the law with a 3.5 0-60 run .

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Heh, I think half this board is from Texas. I'm in Waco, fixing to become a grad student at Baylor.
