Flame away. Fiat 500

Took a Fiat 500 for a drive today. As a daily driver it could be great. I got this image in my mind of my 2011 Camaro SS parked in my garage next to a 15K Fiat 500 if I were concerned about gas mileage, which I'm not. But, compared to a Smart Car, a Prius, or some other mini mouse, it rocks.

I don't understand the logic behind the 500. It doesn't get that great of gas mileage for its size, heck, a cruze gets similar. I think anyone who drives these in the US just look dumb.

Fiat got the nickname, Fix It Again Tony, for a reason. I would wait to see how their quality is this time around. They have improved in Europe, but I would still like to see if they can make the transition to the US market.

I told my dad they were bringing Fiat back to the states and he asked if Chrysler wanted to fail again.

Well, they're better than a Smart, thats for sure. Though to be fair, the Smart isn't exactly the pinnacle of automotive excellence.

They'll sell well enough, mostly to people who want a cute car more than they want a good car. PT Cruiser type buyers spring to mind.

I'd take a smart over a 500, I sat in a 500 once.... couldn't find the zipper on it though.... damn, that thing is tight! I've got plenty of room in the smart, it just shifts horrible. I could see the 500 being the next PT Loser.... I saw one of those burn rubber the other day, I nearly pulled over laughing.... I was amazed a PT Cruiser could spin the tires without falling apart

That's funny! I could see my old man saying the same thing.

I sat in one at the Chrysler show in Carlisle. I'm only 5'9" and I felt like I was eating my knees.

I like it, ut I would wait for the Abarth which was announced yesterday and should be here the first quarter of next year. Around 2500 pounds and around 175 HP, should at least be entertaining. And I find pretty funny people who drive GM cars talking about another company's cars and having to see if they are going to do better. GMs cars have far and away been the least reliable cars I have owned. Also, you guys with the misinformed parents, inform them that the 500 is selling well and I haven't heard of any quality issues as of yet (given it is pretty new to our shores, but of course, has been out in Europe for a couple years now). Of course I guess these are the same people that think a car has to do good in the US to be successful, when they couldn't be further from the truth, especially with a global car like the 500.......

Great, and GM's cars have been the most reliable cars out of everyone I've known.

Still no way I'd pay that much for a car that small. Not even particularly fuel efficient.

PT Cruiser is very close to the top of my list of cars that I've had the misfortune of driving. Terrible car in every aspect.
