I passed up 3 different base-seat cars to buy one with Recaros, but I'm a thin enthusiast. Those with heftier butts and/or bods will be potentially a bit uncomfortable. The Recaros also have more agressive side cushions and bolsters which are a slight ingress/egress issue for less enthusiast-oriented drivers.
Since the Recaros are pricey and you're buying for the wife, I just wanted you to have the info for your decision-making process. If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Personally, I wouldn't buy a V without them, but save your money and marriage if they're not comfy for her.
I've owned many cars in my 47 years, and I've had less buyer remorse with the V than probably anything I've owned, including M5s and E AMGs, etc. You won't regret buying the V. And, yes, there are several tuner options if you're so inclined.
