I know for a fact the 6.2L LS3 is not direct cylinder injected. It is "Direct Port" injection, not direct cylinder injection. Two different things. In the direct port injection the fuel is sprayed in the intake runner right above the valve.

A catch can cannot completely fix the direct cylinder injection problem, but it will certainly help. I think even if the PCV and clean side were vented to the atmosphere, the valves would still get buildup, maybe at a slower rate though. So a catch can will help, for sure. Won't solve the problem though
