It's pretty cool if you track cars, but the Z28 is a better deal right now. You can get a fully loaded Z28 for the price of a base GT350R, assuming you can even get the car for MSRP.
The GT350 is a base Mustang with a different engine, for twice as much money. To get goodies that are standard on every other trim, plus the performance suspension etc. that you would really want, the car will cost you $65k.
