This happened to me this year. Someone filed a tax return using my social before I did.
Had to go to the IRS to prove who I was and show proof of my "real" tax return.
The fraudulent return was kicked out but I still have to wait another 4 to 6 months to get my refund even though they know that mine is the real return.
They say that is the "process".
Did you have anthem blue cross insurance between the years 2004 to the present? My social was part of that security breach last year and may have been where the scammers got my number.
