Things like the axles and transmission could very easily be shared, while elements like the front fascia would need to be different anyway so there isn't added cost in going two different routes.

And now that I've thought all this through ... I come to the sad realization that GM will probably never do such a thing, no matter how great it would be.

I'd buy a pre-runner style the day they came out!
