I don't mean to derail the thread....but I highly doubt it...they upgraded the axels on the 1LE to cope with additional grip of the Goodyear tires, and these new Pirelli's on the Z/28 absolutely eclipse the Eagle F1's...
Plus, there's 70 more hp to contend with...
I wonder if what you read was an official statement or not - I don't remember reading anything like that in press/releases or spec sheets.
