I love downshifting a manual and punching the gas, but with there is also an intense feeling with an automatic I can't get with a standard.
One time that comes to mind: (from a while back) was in a 68 Camaro on a 4 lane road with a well built, high rpm small block shifting from 1st to 2nd at 8200 rpm and chirping LOUDLY right by the open window of some dick in a Volkswagon that had just dangerously cut us and the car in front of us off. Doing that in a manual can be a little dicey...
