I only get my nails done because I'm a horrible nail biter. If I didn't have acrylics, my fingers would be bloody stumps. I do hear ya on the pain, though. Once, I hit my pinky on my steering wheel really hard. The acrylic didn't break or come off, instead, it ripped my nail back almost all the way off.  I had to go get a nerve block at the doctor and have them take the acrylic off to see how much damage there was. The doc said she had never had to play manicurist before. Im also a nail biter.
I was in Climate Control class under the hood of a car working when I caught one and it ended up breaking my real nail underneath in half, ripping most of the top half of my real nail off, and ripping most of the acrylic off. There was blood and pain. I was in class and had to suck it up. :( Just having half of it come off hurt so bad, I cant imagine the pain yours must have had. Im cringing thinking about it lol. O.O'

To be honest my husband thinks he is a lucky man because he gets free labor out of me to fix his car.
