Is the 1/4-mile a valid yardstick? Sure...but no two tracks have the same prep, the same bite, and/or the same air density and ambient temps. So who's doing the "conversions"?
More variables...
Take a gazillion dollar Formula 1 car, or IndyCar (see how Chev's doing?!), or Sprint Cup car to a strip and what happens? Impressive times? No, not really...
I recall a Winston Cup car test at a drag strip: 800+ hp, 3400 lbs., and it ran low 11's. What's that prove? Not much...
Does MRC have a drag race setting, to allow the front suspension to act as though it has light springs and 80/20 or 90/10 shocks? No. Would that hamper a ZL1 from "full weight transfer"? Yes...and if the '13 GT 500 enjoys electronic shocks, it will be even more impeded because so much more, %-wise, of its weight sits over the front wheels, and is unwillingly tranferred to puny 285 tires. "Unhook the front anti-sway bars", they'll say. "Showroom stock" goes out the window. "How about DRs?" Again, mods...
The production ZL1 has been in the hands of the general pubic for about 2 weeks now. Few are broken in. Fewer still have seen a road course.
What's the CHEAPEST and BEST mod, money can buy?
Seat time...

Question for you, have ya seen a production ZL1 time in any roadcourse anywhere or are you still referring to the pre-production versions? There is a difference, whether some wanna admit it or not. Now we are seeing real #s for production ZL1 on the 1/4 mile and they are on par with the current GT500s. What happens if the new GT500 posts a better time at VIR than the ZL1, what are you going to blab about then? Keep an open mind, you will smile more.
