There are always two sides to a coin. How many accidental discharges are there in the democratic US utopia? How many times are lives taken senselessly by guns that have nothing to do with crimes because daddy was too stupid to SAFE the weapon? What do you tell those peoples families? There are more deaths from accidental gun deaths than there are from criminals. Let's not go there. You're argument makes no logical sense because all you seem to focus on is the "criminal" elements and nothing else. Open your mind a bit to understand there are more than one reason to carry or not to carry deadly weapons.
I agree if the data supports your "need" to carry for protection because that's the environment you live in that's all good, it makes logical sense, but if the data doesn't then it's senseless and having everybody carry just for the sake of saying you can makes no sense at all and would be more dangerous. Get real and give up on your baseless argument. The lack of carry law here saves more lives than it would if people carried. Go watch your local news, how many times is there a gun crime vs a gun accident? I can use your same senseless mathematics. I don't want to take one accidentally for the greater good either because some monkey wants to carry a loaded .44cal to be cool, and his 5yr. old picks it up and fires off a round while daddy is in the store picking up a pack of cigs., when there is absolutely no need to. Try to understand and I will write this again for your benefit. Canadians can own firearms, we can keep them at home, we can use them for hunting, sport, collection, self defence, et al. But, "everybody" cannot go to the shop, buy a .44mag. and stuff it in their pants to go hang out. There must be a "need". That's it not complicated, a "need", not a "want", a "need". Everywhere on the globe is not the same as where you live and therefore have different laws. That's what democracy is all about. You have your version, we have our, and it suits purpose for each country for good reason. Hell, if I live in varying states I carry weapons too. But, I don't so no need to, politics or not, no "need" to.
