Performance isn't everything, especially in the compact segment where the vast majority of buyers are looking for fuel efficiency in a well-appointed, no-compromises package, not performance. The Cobalt was only slightly better than the Corolla in terms of interior quality/materials, and the exterior was insanely dated. By the time Cruze launched, Cobalt had become a horribly uncompetitive car.
